Udupi: Sandalwood stars add glamour to Hiriadka temple celebrations

Udupi, Apr 23: The seventh day of the Punar Pratishthana and Brahmakalashotsava of the renovated Shree Veerabhadra Adi Temple, Hiriadka was a star-studded affair with sandalwood actors gracing the event on Saturday, April 21.

Actor and producer 'Challenging Star' Darshan Thoogudeepa, Srujan Lokesh famous for his 'Majaa Talkies', film actor and theatre artiste Dhananjay and Yashas Surya attended the programme at Rajadharma Sabhe.



"Sri Veerabhadra temple Hiriadka has been renovated with beautiful artworks, wooden carvings and stone work. This temple is a model. People are the reflection of God. Hence, it is important to decorate the image of god, as it will help us improve ourselves. The secret of the glory of our life is worshipping God," said Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji speaking on the occasion.

"It is our duty to protect the rich heritage and culture contributed by our ancestors. Renovation is not a big achievement but preservation and nurturing that culture is more important," said Darshan Thoogudeepa.

Majaa Talkies famed artists and actor, Srujan Lokesh said that he is touched with the love he received from the people of coastal Karnataka. He used the opportunity to speak on supporting farmers who are backbone of the country as well as street vendors who struggle hard to make their ends meet. “Don’t bargain with street venders, instead give extra two rupees to them,” he advised.

He also spoke on the need to keep the country as well as one’s mind clean and spoke about the role parents play in their children’s life.

"Every temple, shrine reflects India’s culture. Visiting temples give people peace of mind," said Yashas Surya.

Actor Dhananjay also spoke on the occasion. The programme was presided by Nitte University Chancellor N Vinay Hegde. GST Commissioner Delhi, Rajesh Prasad IAS also spoke on the occasion.

Bhavani Chandayya Hegde, Erya Beedu, Prakash Shetty, Chairman of MRG Groups and Mohandas Hegde of Muttur house, Hiriadka were felicitated on the occasion.

Earlier in the day, installation of flag, kalashabhisheka, mahapooja and other religious rituals were held. As many as 505 kalashadhivasa for Lord Brahma and 1001 for Veerabhadra and Adhivasa homa were performed in the evening.

The formal programme was followed by Hindustani Classic music concert and performed by Fayaz Khan and team Bengaluru. A dance was performed by Jnana Aithal and team Hejjenada from Mangaluru and Bhargavi team.

A grand Brahmakalashotsava was held for Sri Veerabhadra on Sunday morning. In the evening religious Sudharma Sabhe was held.
