Mysuru, Apr 25: The University of Mysore has suspended two of its professors from service, based on a complaint about them having sought votes for chief minister, Siddaramaiah, who is fighting assembly election from Varuna constituency here.

Prof Aravind Malagatti, professor of Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies at Manasa Gangotri, who also happens to be the president of Karnataka Sahitya Academy, along with head of the university's department of journalism and mass communication, Dr B P Maheshchandra Guru, had taken part in a programme organized by Karnataka State Backward Classes Awareness Forum recently. The district electoral officer had received a complaint that at the programme, the two had sought votes for chief minister, Siddaramaiah.

The election commission had sought report on this complaint from the University of Mysore. The university, after holding investigation, has suspended both the professors from service, it is learnt.
