Udupi, May 8: Manoj M Mallya, a student of Indrali English Medium High School near here scored 623 out of a maximum of 625 marks and secured the third rank in the state along with 12 others.
Manoj said that the tips given by his elder brother, who has completed his engineering studies in NITK, Surathkal recently, help and guidance of his father, company of his mother while studying and the encouragement given by his teachers are responsible for his achivement.
He is going to continue his PUC education in Poornaprajna PU college, Udupi and has the aim of studying E&C branch in IIT.
Manoj's father Dr Madhukar Mallya is working as a professor of biochemistry in KMC Manipal and mother Jayashree Mallya is an employee of LIC. His brother Mayur Mallya has also secured rank in PUC examinations.
