Bengaluru, May 22: On Monday May 21, 13 aspirants filed nomination papers with returning officer, P Hemalata, who is the regional commissioner at Mysuru. These nominations were filed relating to southwest graduates constituency, southwest teachers constituency and south teachers constituency. A total of 16 candidates have remained in the fray now.

Out of 13, eight nominations were filed from southwest teachers constituency. As Tuesday happens to be the last day for filing of nomination papers, there was rush on Monday to file nomination papers.

BJP and JD(S) changed its candidates to the legislative council at the last minute. BJP fielded Y A Narayanaswamy in place of Halanur S Lepakshi from southeast teachers constituency. JD(S) too changed its nominee by fielding Achche Gowda Shivanna in place of Shivarame Gowda from graduates constituency from the city.
