Mangaluru: Bus fare hike - transport authority taking action

Mangaluru, May 25: Chairman of Regional Transport Authority and Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner, Sasikanth Senthil, said that the authority has been taking action against private buses which have unilaterally hiked bus fare.

In reply to queries raised by media persons at the press conference held on Thursday May 24, he said that in such cases, fine is being imposed on operators for violating terms of permit. Against this, the owners have appealed to the state transport authority, he revealed.

In reply to question on this issue, Udupi district deputy commissioner, Priyanka Mary Francis, stated that no such complaints were received in her district and that if any complaints are made, suitable action will be taken.
