PM Narendra Modi assassination plot fake, says Congress

Mumbai, Jun 12 (NIE): A day after NCP chief Sharad Pawar raised a question mark over the alleged plot to assassinate Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Congress too joined the pitch. On Tuesday, Mumbai Congress president Sanjay Nirupam said the entire assassination plot had been a farce. “The BJP knows that it is fast losing popularity and support among the masses. This seems to be nothing but a plot to garner sympathy for Narendra Modi,” Nirupam said.

The Pune Police had on Friday informed a court that they had recovered a threat letter from Rona Wilson, one of the five people arrested from Mumbai, Nagpur and Delhi in connection with ‘Elgar Parishad’ held in Pune in December and the subsequent Bhima-Koregaon violence in the district. It had claimed that a plot to assassinate the PM in a “Rajiv Gandhi-type incident” had been revealed by it. But Nirupam on Monday claimed that the recovered letter was unsigned. “The police is yet to clarify on how they recovered the letter. Was it in the form of a written letter, a printed page, or was is recovered from a hard disk,” asked Nirupam. He also questioned that the “ease with which the threat letter was accessed by the media.”

On Sunday, speaking at a rally, Pawar also took a sharp dig at the BJP over the issue. “The BJP has realised that they are losing popular support. In order to gain sympathy, the BJP is now playing the threat letter card. However, I am sure that the people will not fall prey to such tactics.” Pawar’s comment had drawn a sharp reaction from the BJP with CM Devendra Fadnavis hitting out at the veteran leader saying he did not expect Mr Pawar to to “stoop down to this level”.

Mounting a further offensive, Nirupam recounted how nothing had come out of investigations in similarly alleged plots when Modi was still the Gujarat CM. He also questioned if the entire controversy was nothing but a plot to divert attention from the probe into the Bhima Koregaon violence, where “those close to the RSS and the BJP” had been named as accused.

Has done nothing to encourage Development more than previous regime...neither has it stopped corruption as promised.... What was promised was an ideal state, a developed and corruption free state... What difference is there from the beginning... It's the same Tripe...When you don't succeed.. blame others......What the current Govt. Has achieved is that people now hate each other and are causing more divide with an intention to rule... It's pathetic

The opposition is so scared of him that they have now agreed to form one big coalition to fight against BJP in 2019. What more is required. Congress is running out of strategies to be in news, hence they have raked up this issue. Perhaps its even to camaflouge their presidents utterances on Coco Cola and Mc Donalds yesterday.

This cannot be a fake news and taken lighly as NaMo is the PM of India elected by People of India. However timing of exposure to public/media looks like is with the intention of garnering support/votes and this cannot be termed as wrong precedence.
All political party try to benefit from incident whether its good or bad. Remember unfortunate assassination of former PMs of India, both the case Congress used it to political benefit and nothing wrong in that, as country united against violence/terror elements.

What appeared to have complicated the matter for Pakistan is the decision of the Indian government to inform Pakistan by using the communication line of director generals of military operation (DGMOs) of both the countries.

When the Indian DGMO informed his Pakistani counterpart about the nature of the operations, it rang the alarm bells in Pakistan.
However after assuring the limited nature of the “surgical strikes”, the Indian side maintained that there was no move to escalate it any further. A close scrutiny of the Indian DGMO’s press conference in the morning and his decision not to entertain any question on the issue was calculated to give Pakistani army a space for maneuvering.

Highly-placed sources in the government said that the script, however, went haywire as Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif reacted to surgical strikes and called Indian’s move as “naked aggression”. Since Sharif was briefed about India’s military action, he could not get time to hide his outrage. However, the army leadership soon intervened and started denying surgical strikes. Of course, India found Pakistan’s denial as not unusual.
