Los Angeles (United States), Jul 15 (IANS): Argentine midfielder Rubens Sambueza who plays for Mexican club Toluca, was awarded the Golden Ball for his outstanding performance in the Liga Mx 2017-2018 season, the Mexican league said.
Liga Mx President Enrique Bonilla said at the awards ceremony that it took the league 10 years to recognise Sambueza's skill but that the definitive moment has come on Saturday, reports Efe.
Sambueza, a skilled midfielder with leadership ability and great creativity in the middle of the pitch was the most awarded figure in the ceremony as he also received the Golden Ball for being the best attacking midfielder of the season.
Reacting to the award he received, Sambueza said that it was unexpected but that it served as a motivation for him to continue playing good professional football.
