28 injured in collision of two government buses near Kokkada

Puttur, Jun 5: After two buses belonging to Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation got involved with collision at Parpikallu near Kokkada on the evening of Saturday June 4, 28 passengers were injured.


One of these buses was moving towards Subrahmanya from Dharmasthala whereas the other was going to Dharmasthala. One of the buses plunged into the roadside drain as a result. Bus driver, Chinnaswamy (48), and pilgrims, Kempaiah (50), Laxman (65), Harish (45), Ravi Naik (28), Mahesh (42),Hemalata (36), Diwakar (64), Bindu (16), Maitri (10), Chandakanth (32), and Sanjeev (76) suffered serious injuries. They were admitted to various hospitals.

Those whose nature of injuries was not grave, are being treated in the government health centre at Kokkada. Locals supported 108 ambulance staff in transporting injured persons to hospitals.
