Interstate thief, habitual offender aged 64 nabbed- police to get reward

Mangaluru, Jun 5: “Dakshina Kannada police have succeeded in arresting an interstate thief who is allegedly involved in various theft and robbery cases in Puttur town police station limits,” said Dakshina Kannada superintendent of police Bhushan Gulabrao Borase on Sunday, June 5.

Addressing the press meet at his office, he said, “The police have arrested Thangaraj P (64) alias Raju, resident of Muriyanavi Village, Hosadurga post Kasargod taluk and district. Accused is also a habitual offender and seven cases of theft have been registered against him in Puttur town police station. Police have recovered property worth Rs 7 lac from him. The accused has 28 cases of theft in Udupi district, one case in Kushalnagar, 10 cases in Kerala, Palakkad. The accused has been involved in theft since 1988 and his first case was registered in Chennai Central police station.”

Thangaraj was arrested under guidance of ASP Rishyanth. The team comprise Mahesh Prasad police inspector, Abdul Khadar ASI, Nagaraj H E ASI, Skariya MA, Prashanth Shetty, Sharif Nadaf Saab, Narayana, Damodar Naika, Jayaram, Krishnappa, Udaya Kumar, Prashanth Rai, Mallesh, Mohan and Lingappa Gowda.

“Police department will also request court to cancel his bail. He should remain in judicial custody till trials are heard. He is said to be a habitual offender. The investigation team will get Rs 25,000 reward and commendation certificate,” he said.

“The accused could search and identify the houses where people would not be there and he would easily get into house by breaking the door lock with weapon. People should use the central locks, burglar alarm and CCTV and inform the nearest police station if they are going out of station,” he added.

ASP Rishyanth IPS, Mahesh Prasad, Nagaraj H were present during the press meet.

    Why these thieves always keep there looted booty with themselves and latter on displayed by police when they intercepted...??
    Just sell-off the things immediately..to utilise money for livlihood.
