Mangaluru, Jun 8: To mark achievements of two years of Modi government, BJP organised ‘Vikas Parva’ conference at Town Hall here on Wednesday, June 8.
Union minister of state for commerce, Nirmala Sitharaman in her keynote address said, “Vikas Parva is not celebration but part of BJP led NDA government’s achievements. This programme shows the accountability of the government to people as to what we have done in two years. The idea of Vikas Parva is to have members of parliament, ministers and party functionary to go around the country and hear from people and tell what steps we have taken. Congress party which cannot digest its defeat tried to put every allegation on the government. Tell us one step taken by this government which has helped rich at the cost of poor. Narendra Modi never thinks that he is helping only a particular community. He does it for all Indians.”
“After 2002 Godhra incident, everyone visited Gujarat human rights, judiciary and questioned whether government is doing its duty or not. Today, I recall one of the incidents after the riot. One of the commissions went and met the then chief minister of Gujarat Narendra Modi and requested the chief minister to announce something so that it looked as if the commission went and inspected and necessary steps were taken. In that environment, Modi said that he worked for six crore Gujaratis and he was not there to please anyone. It is quite obvious from his work that if he does something he does it for the whole country and not for a particular section. The paradigm of this government is not to please anyone but work for every citizen of India. The subsidies are given so that it reaches the needy and their children.” she added.
“Ration cards were given to the needy and there were many fake ration cards earlier. These fake ration cards were removed and total amount of Rs 36,000 crore was saved by government of India. Modiji has given a corruption-free government in the past two years. Modi had said 'Na Kaavunga, Naa Kaane Dunga' and there has been not even a single allegation on any minister in the past two years. All the coal blocks have been allocated and now there is coal surplus in the country. In UPA government, there were coal blocks imported and there was corruption in coal block allocation.
“We have been led by a visionary leader who showed us how transparency can be brought by the use of technology. For Rs 12 and 300, you get accident and crop insurance respectively. Congress party asks what do we get by the foreign visits? Today the country’s esteem has risen higher. Every minister is accessible today. This government is something which listens to you. This government will not differentiate to any state irrespective of which party is in power. Karnataka will also develop in the same way like other states are developing.” Nirmala concluded.
Union ministers of state for home affairs, Haribhai P Choudhary said, “Before 2005 in Gujarat the electricity was available only for five hours a day. But due to the efforts of Narendra Modi, today there is uninterrupted electricity for 24 hours and three phases are wired in every village. Before two years there was high level of corruption in the government. Since Modi has taken charge there has been not even a single corruption charge on government. Modi has visited about 41 countries after he came to power. This has resulted in projecting India as the easy destination for business in the world. Previously we were ranked fifteenth on FDI ranking and today we have progressed a lot. There is a healthy FDI flow in the country. We are taking various steps to get BSNL on profit and in the coming two years it will make profits.”
“Previously the soldiers had to wait to take counter action on the border but now they have been given all the permissions. If one bullet is fired from the other end then they are allowed to give befitting answer. This has resulted in 32 percent decrease in terrorism. In order to check urea going to the industries, neem coated urea was introduced. Today there is enough urea available for farmers. In order to provide 24 hours electricity to the whole nation by 2020 about Rs 40,000 crore is kept in the budget. I urge the people to support us and make 'Congress Mukth Bharat'. There is lot of difference in Congress and BJP. In Congress it is family politics whereas in BJP a person who sold tea can also become the prime minister.” he added.
Former member of parliament, Dushyanth Kumar Goutham and DK member of parliament, Naleen Kumar Kateel, Sullia MLA, S Angara, BJP district president, Prathap Simha Nayak, MLC Ganesh Karnik, Kota Srinivas Poojary and others were present.
