Mangaluru, Jun 9: Four persons in connection with prostitution racket have been arrested in two separate raids carried out by Mangaluru North police on Thursday, June 9.
In the first raid, police arrested Nagappayya (40), son of late Sheena and the resident of Trasi in Kunadapur Taluk and Lakshmikanth, the manager of Maithri Lodge.
It is alleged that the prostitution was taking place in room number 110 of the fourth floor of the Maithri Lodge on the first cross road of the Nehru Maidan. The raid was carried out at 9 am by the team led by Mangaluru North police inspector Shantharama along with ASI Shobha, head constable Pushparani, constables Reshma and Mohan.
In the second raid, police arrested Shivanandan (45), son of Appu and the resident of Naarakasheri house at Balushyeri Mandal, Calicut and Madhava (31), son of Yelyanna Gowda and the resident of Nekkiladi house in Alangaru village in Puttur taluk.
The prostitution racket was allegedly taking place in the Karuna Lodge on Old Kent road at Pandeshwar and the raid was carried out at 12:30 pm . A total of Rs 1,350 was seized by the team led by Mangaluru North police inspector Shantharama along with PSIs Mohammed Sherif and Anantha Murdeshwara and other police personnel.
All the four have been presented to court and then sent to judicial custody.
