Mangaluru, Jun 11: It is gathered that after eight months of the incident, the police have filed charge sheet against over 150 activists of different Hindu organizations for their participation in incidents of backlash in connection with a murder.
After the murder Bajrang Dal activist, Prashant Poojary, riot, robbery, attack, obstruction of policemen from discharging duties, etc had happened, police have said. In a major development that has suddenly surfaced after eight months, the police have now filed this charge sheet in the court.
On October 9 last year, a gang had suddenly attacked Prashant Poojary, who was operating a small shop at Moodbidri, in the wee hours and fled. Thereafter people including activists of different organizations had gathered at various places within the district and demanded action against the perpetrators of this crime. When Poojary's mortal remains were brought to the town in the evening, incidents of violence had recurred due to emotional flare up.
It is said that the police personnel have pooled the charge sheets on the basis of CCTV footage, information gathered by policemen, and complaints filed by aggrieved people. As per information, youngsters from different locations like Karkala, Bailoor, Bantwal, Moodbidri etc have been named as accused. Ten among them already stand arrested. Two among the arrested persons, Imtiaz and Badruddin from Gantalkatte have already secured bail through the state high court.
