Udupi, Jun 12: Annual general meeting and reunion of Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh (R) was held here at St Mary's English medium school premises in Kannapadi on Sunday June 12.
Vicar general of Udupi dioceses Msgr Baptist Menezes inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. Addressing the gathering Msgr Baptist Menezes said "Catholic sabha has been organizing good programmes from the past three years. This organization has been organizing many social and awareness camps on the benefits given to minorities by the government. It is happy to see that this organization has been better organized. Work on the word of God, the organization will progress in multi folds. I wish the Catholics of Udupi become more stronger in the days to come."
Dubai based entrepreneur, Ronald D'souza said "There is great leadership and unity in this organization which reflects the identity of our community. Udupi dioceses has got a very good bishop who has the vision of encouraging children to pursue their higher studies. The dioceses has has formed 18 committees out of which the responsibilities of four committees have been given to us. This has indeed increased our responsibility. When we do good job criticism are inevitable but facing them and going ahead is important."
President of Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh, William Machado presided over the function.
Former president of Mangaluru region Thomas Quadros, chairperson of KSDL, Veronica Cornelio, Former president of Catholic Sabha, Elroy Crasta, spiritual director, Fr Fardinand Gonsalves and Fr Fred Mascarenhas, also spoke at the occasion.
President of Catholic Sabha Mangaluru region, Flavy D'souza, Walter D'Souza, Gerald Pinto, Walter Pinto, Luis Almeida, Joachim Pinto, Valerian Menezes, Alphonso D’Costa and others were present.
At the occasion Fr Richard Menezes was honoured with Francis Danthi memorial literature award.
Achievers in the field of political, social, education and sports, Wilson Rodrigues, Michel Dsouza, Melvyn Dsouza, Renita Dsouza, Voilet Baretto, Glevan Dsouza, Royston, Vijay Castelino, Dayana Rodrigues and others were honoured at the occasion.
Newly chosen president, Valerian Fernandes, secretary Jacintha Colaco and other office bearers of central committee for the year 2015-16 were announced at the occasion and committee members directory was also released by chief priest of Udupi deanery Fr Fred Mascarenhas.
Gangolli, Shankarapura, Udupi, Mount Rosary, Milagres were honoured as very good units while Udupi Kuntalnagara, Thallur, Kalathur, Bramhavara, Athoor, were honored as good units.
Regional heads of Kundapur and Kalyanpur were honoured as the best deanery.
