Mangaluru/Udupi, Dec 30: Dakshina Kannada on Thursday, December 30, reported 11 new coronavirus cases while Udupi registered 19 cases.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,16,352 out of which 146 are currently active.

As many as 8 patients were discharged from hospitals on Thursday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,700.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,11,19,630 as fine in 91,934 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 13,68,164 samples have been tested so far.

A total of 19 new cases were reported on Thursday, taking the total number of cases to 77,088 out of which 93 are currently active.

A total of 6 patients were discharged from hospitals on Thursday. Coronavirus has claimed 479 lives in the district so far.

So far 9,57,920 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 8,20,112 have received the second dose.

A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.
