Mangaluru: Night curfew causes financial distress to scores of people

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Dec 31: The imposition of night curfew during the most profitable time of the year has caused concern for businessmen, hotels, bar and restaurant owners, taxi owners and drivers.

The night curfew is going to hit hard on the hotel industry especially. It had faced huge losses during the first lockdown. Bar and restaurants get business only at night. The night curfew will cause loss to them.

Those who earn their living through taxis are also on the receiving end of the night curfew restrictions. Due to the night curfew they do not get passengers for long travel, who prefer to travel at night. Though the taxi owners of the border areas of Kerala and Karnataka have Kerala state permits, they cannot run the taxis due to restrictions at the border area.

Many residents of twin districts arrive back to native place for Christmas and New Year to spend time with family. Other people also plan their holidays during this time of the year. Business for the tourism sector will be at its peak during this time. The night curfew has curtailed all the revenue and hit the people connected with this industry hard.

Kudpi Jagadeesha Shenoy, president of Dakshina Kannada Hotel Owners’ association says, “We have suffered losses for two years. End of the current year and the beginning of the New Year are the boom times for us. Due to the imposition of night curfew, people stop venturing even in the evenings. This will have severe consequences on the hotel industry.”

These viruses work in night shifts. Andher nagari chaupat raja, taka ser bhaji taka ser khaja. These politicians take whatever ridiculous decisions without taking the business community, general public in confidence. What a joke of democracy.

So sad to see the hoteliers they have so many orders but they are unable to complete thier target..i had ordered food online but i landed picking up my own food. My humble request to the Government you rule a state you govern but bring in the young entrepreneurs into confidence and give them hope of survival. With the majority i would say you're still a failure had you not the demonization currency you and your Governance is a big Zero.. Finally prove yourself or answer were are we standing and what is your loan statement.

Critical decisions like night curfews and lockdowns should be taken by a team of experts and not at all by politicians. It’s better they sit and do only ‘politics’

These night curfews are utterly useless. Does the virus spread only during the night? Wow! May be they take rest in the day time to become more aggressive during the night.

All politicians (government and opposition) are the same - they just care for power and money. They don't care who suffers. When government calls for increase in salaries of all MPs - no one opposes !

I feel atleast this time Government should have tried Curfew in the day time and night time till early morning open activities. Just to try whether Corona spread by day time or night time. Only experiment for a week.

Those who were trying to recover from business losses during this year end season from earlier lockdowns going to hit badly. Winter season, common cold and flu are common, cases will increase. So soon day time curfew if ordered it is not surprising. But to ruin the economy ? and to push boosters? Why we need to follow west or communists ? Soon it will be, only if one takes booster then one will be fully vaccinated (That too booster for Delta, not Omicron.) Then when delta booster ruins the health comes the Omicron booster. In Israel (Elite and Communist laboratory for the world) They have already tested or jabbed for delta, cases have not decreased but increased now omicron or 4th Jab testing going on for 60 plus there... Looks like Booster after booster to keep one alive, but heavy economic losses and good vaccine and online business to elite and good commission to their agents, health authorities, worldwide politicians who looks like selling nations after nations to elite and communists for little commission!

No use of pleading or requesting with deaf, dumb and blind politicians who have colluded with greedy pharma lobby, time to wake-up and stop complying immediately after getting united keeping aside party, religious divisions created by politicians to rule over our fundamental rights and freedoms like our Great Farmers did, then only we can bend stubborn thick skinned politicians and we can take back our freedoms.

I have still not understood the rationale of night curfews. They can ban parties and/or gathering of more than 5 people but blanket night curfews are totally useless. The movement of people at nights is anyway minimal and therefore the virus transmission possibility at nights is also minimal. Once parties and large gatherings are banned, only those who have a necessity only will move around. The virus transmission therefore, is highest during daytime when crowds gather and the focus on its restriction should be limited to daylight hours.

Two and Half years we have sat inside due to Covid19 without moving outside. Now also we are forced to stay inside due to heavy dust on the road at Karangalpady new cross road ( C.G.Kamath Road) drainage work is going on since 1½ months hide and seek work is going on . Many residentials have complained to corporation and corporator but the works are going on in a snails pace. Most of the residents got dust allergy's, doctor says to avoid dust. 2½ years stayed at home and now how long we have to stay indoors avoiding dust coverand how long we have to bear doctors fees and medicine charges. Do the corporation pays us these bills?! Despite many business people are losing business due to night curfews. Governments are going on raising fuel charges and GST to every commodities. So how we can live bearing high cost of living. People are committing suicide, unable to bear debts overhead after losing business. Nobody is purchasing p Pacodas, Pani Puri etc.... Living has become a burden from this Governments squeezing citizens wallet's continuously. God only should help us.

This was expected. Why government is making the same mistakes it made in March 2020? Why is first measure itself so drastic? Enforce wearing masks and maintain social distance, this way both covid will come down and economy will not suffer.... Directly going for lockdowns is not the best approach.
