Mangaluru/Udupi, Jan 1: Dakshina Kannada on, January 1 reported 48 new coronavirus cases. The case positivity rate for the district stands at 0.61%.

As per the district health bulletin, a total of 24,53,024 samples have been tested so far, out of which 23,36,594 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,16,430 out of which 187 are currently active.

As many as 12 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday, taking the total number of recoveries to 114542.

The death in the district on Saturday is nil. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,701.

The district administration has collected Rs 1,11,25,830 in fines for 91,996 mask violations.

Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 13,79,986 samples have been tested for the second wave of coronavirus.

As many as 28 new cases were reported on Saturday, taking the total number of cases to 77,151 out of which 140 are currently active.

A total of 12 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday, taking the total number of recoveries to 76,532 for the second wave.

The second wave of coronavirus has claimed 289 lives in the district.
