Bengaluru: Master in fooling police, ‘Escape Karthik’ arrested for 17th time

Bengaluru, Jan 2: Karthik Kumar alias Escape Karthik, who is notorious for escaping from the police is arrested by the western police of the city. He has 80 cases of theft on him.

Police have cracked five cases after the arrest of Karthik for the 17th time. Golden ornaments worth Rs 11.43 lac is confiscated from him. He was successful in escaping from police custody two times in the past.

Karthik has got several cases on him in Bengaluru, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. At the age of 16, he stole golden ornaments from home and the first case was slapped on him. He used to come out on bail and steal ornaments again.

In 2008, Karthik escaped from the Parappana Agrahara prison through the food supply van. After 45 days he was arrested again. In 2010, he escaped from the police when they took him for spot inspection. Now he is arrested again.

According to police, Karthik is expert in running, climbing and jumping. That is why he is able to steal golden ornaments from so many places. Even police are not a match to him in running and climbing.

Two years ago, however, Karthik was caught by the public while stealing from a house and was beaten badly. His hand was injured in the incident. Later his girlfriend’s brother stabbed him on the leg. Now Karthik cannot run as before.
