Journey time to Dubai less than Covid test duration at Mangaluru International Airport

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Jan 4: The maximum journey time from the city to any destination in UAE is just three and a half hours. However, the passengers are subjected to five hours of waiting in the airport in order to get permission to travel.

Intensive checking is being done in the international airport in city for international travellers due to the Covid Omicron variant threat. As soon as a traveller enters the airport, his documents are checked and QR code is scanned. This is in addition to the permission obtained to travel from an overseas country.

Passengers have to undergo Covid test 48 hours prior to travel. This is usually done free of cost or one may need to pay Rs 500 if it is done in a private hospital. However, the same checking costs Rs 3,000 at the airport. This becomes a burden to the traveller as most of the times, they are not aware of this.

The NRIs complain that it is not right to test again at airport once a person has the Covid of test report generated 48 hours. They say that Arab countries have never asked for six hours-prior journey test.

As the RT-PCR test message comes to Indian mobile number, the passenger is bound to carry the Indian SIM card or mobile phone with them. Some passengers, unaware of this information face problems at the airport. After the RT-PCR sample is collected, the passenger is made to wait outside. Once the report arrives, the officials at the airport conduct another check. If it is Indigo, then the airlines staff also do one more round of physical checking. This needs additional time. Once these checks are over the immigration officials do the procedures.

All the international counters are closed one hour prior to travel. So minimum of five hours are required for passenger to travel from city airport.

Only three to four people are deputed to help more than 200 passengers. This increases their work pressure. There is no system in the airport that gives information on various tests.

One should have a RTPCR negative report generated within 48 hours of departure, a certificate proving two doses of vaccination, air ticket, permission message from respective overseas country and QR code, mobile phone having Indian number and Rs 3,000 for Covid test.

Its a UAE Govt requirement. So if you want to travel , you follow the laws of that land, If not , do not travel. Mind you Indigo lights were suspended for few days by the UAE as 1 passenger sneaked without the RTPCR test. Passenger claimed ,he had lost it. You cannot blame Ambani, Adani for everything in life.

as per UAE Govt. these PCR should be 48 hours prior to departure and the PCR should have a QR Code. then tell me why we should do the RT PCR at Airport and come to airport 6 hours prior to departure. just understand that small kids need food. if the passenger travelling from Byndoor he need to start his journey like 10 PM to reach the airport. even if the family of 3 or 4 it will be very difficult. if we do the PCR from Government hospital it is costing Rs. 10 and at the airport 3000 per personal. it is another scam of Modi Government

Elias its a UAE Govt requirement for the travellers from the subcontinent. You show your discontent there. Not here. Please shift to Bombay where your convenience related problems are solved, Byndoor is too far and a village. Its easy to blame Modi when you do not have the dhum in the xum.

RTPCR is a UAE Govt requirement , so Indian Govt airports have to abide by it. Those who find it frustrating have to show it to the authorities there, if at all you have the dhum in your xum,? Just because you have the leisure of bashing the Indian Govt officials with Fake ids does not mean that you can say anything. Why dont you call for a protest at the airport entrance with the party leaders you have affiliated with??

The Govt has to ensure only COVID negative ' passenger board the flight. This is in agreement with other foreign Govts so the passengers do not spread it in the destination countries. So the airlines/airport ensures they have a test conducted within 6 hours in addition to the 48 hour test. Many have been tested positive at the airport who were negative in the 48 hour test. So its a good move. . Passengers travel from Bombay , a 2 hour flight to Dubai, but come 6 hours in advance, so no big deal. If you dont want to go thru the hassle. Just dont travel. Ambani, Adani , BJP or Modi have nothing to do with this. The Bhayama Congress should stop this negative propoganda!!!!

Vishal Mangalore ,you are right. There are people who wants to dont want get tested before flight ,they try to get a ok certificate by some fake persons who pay some money .Even fake vaccination books too are available from some agents.People who work in this dept.self are sometimes cant believe.Others have to pay for their faults .At present one has to only either wait for some time to travel till regulations are bit lessened.or try your patience at airport. When you have bad luck your flight might fly without you when u finish all regulations.

What better you can expect from them. The political parties spend our money for canvassing during election. If they spend the same money to update the minimum requirement through media it will help the travelers. Some how they suck the blood to before leaving/arriving to motherland.

rightly said...see the approach of the immigration officers in mangaluru airport and Dubai...no smile here..no greeting....they put up such a show as if the passengers are their servants..even while asking to stand in front of camera for photo they are very stern...should be trained properly on how to communicate and interact..
