Kasargod, Jan 4: Kumble police arrested a youth for cheating a 25-year-old girl with false promises of marriage.
The arrested accused is Abhijith (28), a resident of Miyapadavu. He is reportedly working at Kumble gram panchayat office.
Following the complaint filed by the girl, the police arrested the accused.
It is said that the girl had contacted Abhijith in regard to housing facility sanctioned by the government.
Later, the accused frequently contacted the girl on the phone and promised of marrying her.
As per the complainant, the accused sexually assaulted the victim after visiting her home.
