Bengaluru, Jan 5: Dental doctor Deepti Marla alias Mariyam, who was arrested by National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday, on accusation of contacts with ISIS, revealed shocking details during her interrogation by NIA sleuths.
It has come to light that Mariyam used to entice Hindu youths through honeytrap and convert them to Islam. NIA has unearthed that Madesh Perumal alias Abdul, who was arrested in Bengaluru five months ago by NIA, got converted to Islam because of Honeytrap laid by Deepti Marla.
Deepti Marla, who is native of Kodagu and basically a Hindu girl, got converted to Islam as she fell in love with Anas Abdul Rehman, grandson of former MLA of Ullal Idinabba while studying BDS in a college at Deralakatte and married him.
During the primary interrogation it is known that Mariyam tried to convert more than 10 Hindu youths to Islam throughout the state of Karnataka.
Mariyam used to work for Instagram page ‘Chronicle Foundation’ for ISIS. On the advice of her relative Ammar Abdul Rehman, she used to entice Hindu youths through honeytrap to convert to Islam and also join ISIS.
Deepti Marla alias Mariyam became hard core Islamist due to the instigation of her husband Anas Abdul Rehman and relative Ammar Abdul Rehman. She started enticing youths due to the instructions given by Ammar. Her first two attempts failed.
Mariyam had opened more than 15 accounts in Hindu and Muslim names in social media like Facebook, Tweeter, Instagram and Telegram. She used to get acquainted with Hindu youths as Hindu and Muslim youths as a Muslima. Her sexually provocative chats used to attract young men and make them fall for her.
Mariyam used to make video calls to Hindu youths after getting acquainted with them and used to promise them to get married. She also inspired them to join Islam, in addition to other offers.
With Muslim youths, she used to play the drama of love and provoke them to join ISIS. Due to Mariyam’s enticement, four to five youths had left for Syria from Kerala in 2020 and 2021.
Madesh Perumal alias Abdul, who was arrested five months ago by NIA at Bengaluru was also the victim of Mariyam’s sexual provocative chats. He was suffering from mental issues due to some problem in his family. Mariyam said to Perumal, “I have solution to your issue. People of our community are working for change at a high level in Afghanistan and Syria. If you join them all your problems will get resolved. In addition, I will marry you.”
Madesh Perumal, who got totally attracted by Mariyam’s fake chat, got converted as Abdul and promised to carry out bombings in the country to the members of the terrorist organization on online itself. It is known that Mariyam has spent Rs 10 lac to entice Madesh Perumal.
Mariyam, her husband Rehman and Mohammed Amin had taken part in the religious meeting of Hijra or migrants that took place at Kashmir in 2020. Mariam had introduced herself in some other fake name with local youths in Kashmir. NIA sources said that she used to attract youths to join Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) or Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) through sexual chats and other monetary enticements.
NIA takes Mariyam to Delhi
Mariyam’s mobile phone was confiscated by NIA. She was interrogated the whole day on Monday by the sleuths of NIA.
Mariyam was taken to Delhi for higher investigation on Tuesday. The NIA team had raided the house of Idinabba’s son Basha five months ago on the suspicion that they have links with ISIS. NIA had arrested Ammar, younger son of Basha in August and had taken him to Delhi. After his arrest, the NIA had checked his mobile phone and bank account. During the investigation, the role of Mariyam came to light. Mariyam was the mother of a five-month-old baby then. NIA sleuths had taken only Ammar and left Mariyam but monitored her activities intensely for five months. The NIA confiscated Mariam’s laptop in August itself. Now with more concrete evidence of her part in relation with ISIS, NIA arrested her.
