Puttur, Apr 27: Mandegolu Daiva festival is a unique form of celebration between families here in Dakshina Kannada district.
As part of the festival, the families here fight each other which is also a form of worship in the district.

The ritual is not a bloodbath, but the main purpose of this worship is to prevent conflicts. One of the special and most influential rituals of Tulunadu is the belief in the worship of Bhootaradhane.

There are over 400 different types of deities worshipped in Tulunadu.

A similar worship is being celebrated in Mandegolu, the Sullia taluk of Kerala-Karnataka border in Dakshina Kannada district. It seems like the opponents are consumed in hatred for each other when they fight each other. This is also the reaction of those who see this unique celebration of social intercourse for the first time. But this ritual is a kind of quarrel that aims to establish peace beyond conflict. Yes,there is a thrilling scene in the Mandegolu Maha Vishnu Moorthy Temple of Sullia Taluk in Dakshina Kannada district.

In the past, when the Ballalars ruled over the region, the older brother of the place, the dispute came to an end in a conflict of interest.
It was believed that in the event of a war, the Gods would come and block the war between the brothers. It has been practiced as a form of worship since the past, with the purpose of preventing conflict.

It is customary for four people representing each of the four villages to fight each other. Participants observe the ritual for 5 days. It is believed that even if it hits the ground, it will not hurt.

Thousands of people flock to this place from Dakshina Kannada district, Kodagu and Kasaragod district.
Bhootaradhane is a form of worship that gives divine form to all the changes in nature.
