Rev Dr Henry Patrao (79), passed away on September 25, 2019 at Germersheim, Germany.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 5 in St Martinus Church, Lingenfeld, Germany, followed by burial.
Rev. Dr. Henry Patrao, during his pastoral journey, served as Secretary to the Late Bishop Raymond D`Mello, as a Principal of St. Joseph’s College, and as a Rector & Professor of St. Joseph’s Regional Seminary, Allahabad. He was a Parish Priest of St. Martinus Church in Lingenfeld & St. Bartholomaeus Church in Schwegenheim, Germany, for about 3 decades.
He was a Spiritual Director for many priests, nuns, lay people and the youth giving them guidance and enlightenment, helping them overcome resentment, exhaustion and dark shadows of life.
He was not only a passionate pastor, but also a genius professor, skilful orator, spiritual director & counsellor. His prayerful liturgies, inspiring homilies, guidance and leadership during very event, joyful or tragic, has won him the gratitude of all in Germany. The huge church bells, were installed in Lingenfeld, Germany, and were also exported & installed in Valencia church, Mangalore, by his generous contribution.
He was born in Valencia, Mangalore; son of late John Baptist & late Sabina Patrao, brother of Charles/Stella & Evelyn/Louis Miranda, uncle of Sunil, Anita, Sarita, Marita, Savita, Praveen.
He completed his school studies in Loreto, Agrar and Bantwal towns. After his Seminary studies in Lucknow & Poona, he completed his doctorate in Collegio Urbano, Rome, and Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium, acquiring his doctorate degree in Religious Philosophy, and second doctorate degree in Dogmatic Theology. May his soul rest in peace.
