Bangalore: I am a strong aspirant for CM post - Siddaramaiah

Bangalore: I am a strong aspirant for CM post - Siddaramaiah

Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, May 9: In a statement from Bangalore, former deputy Chief Minister and leader of the opposition in the assembly, Siddaramaiah, concurred that he is a strong aspirant for the post of the Chief Minister of the state. A number of his loyal supporters are rallying behind him, and all of them believe that their leader will be the next Chief Minister of Karnataka within a few days.

Making a statement in the presence of the media, Gauribidanur MLA, Shivashankar Reddy, stressed that Siddaramaiah has all the traits which a CM needs have. Besides being an efficient administrator and seasoned politician, Siddaramaiah hails from backward class, he pointed out.

Siddaramaiah said that he hopes to draw support from all the 120 MLAs of his party.  He added that after the central observers collect opinions from the legislators, a meeting of the legislative party will be convened to elect a leader.

"The observers will brief the party high command (on legislators' choice) which will take the decision," Siddaramaiah, who was leader of the opposition in the outgoing assembly, told reporters at his residence here.

On the support he has among the legislators to become the chief minister, he said: "All 120 MLAs (members of the legislative assembly) are with me."

He did not give details of who would be coming as observers and when the decision on chief minister was likely to be announced.

It is learnt that a team of central observers will reach the city today evening or tomorrow, for holding individual consultations with the newly elected MLAs and decide on a suitable candidate for the post of the Chief Minister. A decision, which will be final, will then be taken by the party high command.

Union minister for labour and employment, Mallikarjun Kharge, has already expressed his readiness to carry the mantle of the state. At the same time, he has said that he does not want the post merely on the basis of his status as a dalit leader.

It is said that about a dozen Congress leaders, including D K Shivakumar, Margaret Alva and Oscar Fernandes, are also eager to become the Chief Minister of Karnataka. The picture will hopefully become clearer within a couple of days.

All these years Siddaramaiha had claimed that he is a Rationalist and do not believe in Pooja, Black magic & Mantra-Maata. But yesterday he was seen holding a Hoodoo Limboo (Lime) to drive away inauspicious forces.
Even then his Bad Luck continued since the Seat which was reserved for him on the dais was unauthorizedly occupied by some unknown women in the very first meeting of the Party and he was left Standing throughout the meeting holding Limbu.

Siddaramaiah with his clean image and administrative capabilities is the right candidate for the Chief minister's post.

As their masters these Sangh Parivar supporters find fault even with Congress win. They had no problems when BJP ruled the state with less votes than Congress. They should be grateful to the people for giving BJP 40 seats even though they are not worth it. Many of these seats were won because of personal charisma of the candidates themselves.

As regards DK, the results are more than Congress expectations. I thought Modi's visit will not have any impact but it had in a negative way for BJP. Intellectual voters of DK did not believe in his antics which is full of lies (which Sangh supporters considers as truth). Good leader is the one who is one among the common man and respects other individual including opponents. Modi is completely contrary to this and still his supporters argue otherwise.

Satish Kunder, Mangalore/Kuwait i dont say that BJP is a perfect party. They lost in Karnataka and DK because of the mistakes which they did. Anyways congrats on the victory. Now please advise kangress to stop blaming BJP and concentrate on good development. Please advise kangress not to spend their time for another 5 years in just blaming BJP for the mistakes which they did and stop the development works. The people of karnataka have already punished BJP and it's upto them if they will learn from their mistakes or not. Incase if the Kangress doesnot perform this term then same situation might come to kangress after 5 years. Good Luck to you.

    Dear Mr Ravi Ullal,

It is certain that if Congress behaves in the way BJP has done in last 5 years they will be thrown out. I will not blindly support them then as you are doing for BJP.
You must have seen my comments in these columns after Congress won the election.

I have seen elections in DK since Mr. Poonacha was MP from Mangalore. After a long time it is 7 out of 8 for Congress. They deserve it and let us all wish them good luck.

Small advise to you, it is Congress and not Kangress. Leave the bitter feelings and let us all work to protect our consmopolitan Mangalore culture from moral police and destroyers of communal harmony.

We like to see Siddaramaya as C. M. My prediction final. He is a clean person, with good vision. 7 yrs before Gowda's pulled down congress govt. and cowrawas ruled Karnataka for 5 yrs. now in Mahanharatha war, Pandavas won the war. If Siddaramaya was not made C. M. We will teach congress a lesson in Parliament election. Parameshwar has lost the election and made way for Siddu. New comers can be C. M. during Kharge, Krishna , Despande congress lost. Moily should not be C. M again. His term is over.

    Mr. Bollu,
We should have plain eyes to see and open mind to understand the performance of Congress!
    1. Contributed immensely for country's liberation.
    2. Maintained democracy inspite of all odds. had it been ruled by authoritarians, India would have been under dictatorship like Pakistan!
    3. Right of land given to Farmers from the clutches of Landlords, in the interest of poor and to re-distribute wealth.
Sadly some poor landlords also lost.
    4. fought wars with China and Pakistan, separated Bangladesh and weakened Enemy Country. Saved several more wars.
    5. In her effort to suppress movement of Khalistan in India, Indira Gandhi lost her life.
    6. In his efforts to provide peace in Sri Lanka for the sake of Tamilians, Rajiv Gandhi lost his life.
List can go on Mr. Bollu... however, everything at all times will not go well. However, thank god, all the people are not so ungrateful...

Yes, Mr Siddaramiah deserves to be given First chance to take the responsibility of C.M. He is an aspitant and also has fought several battles in the Assembly for congress and also faced humiliations. He is forthright an no nonsense business leader of the backward Kuruba comminity. He is able and also needs to be honoured for his good nature.Kharge had been given Central Ministry and his Son a ticket for election and won. Others will have to wait and see their chances if siddaramiah fails in his duties as C.M. Being an elected member of the house he needs all encouragement and support by all the 120 memebrs. The High command must also must take a good and quick decision and form the Government without wasting time to impress the voters behind them, and without giving any room for pressure tactics. People will appreciate that.

First consider of how to provide a good government. Able and united administration is the need of the time. Keep aside all caste, religion, group politics. Infight only causes destruction. What I can give to my country and not what can I get be the first thought. Serve the people of the state as public servants without any discrimination and groupism. Division causes destruction. cooperation & coordination could reach towards achiving the goal. Just don't dream of mere 5 yrs. How to make 5 to 10.. 15.. and so on. Let democracy flourish. Self centeredness perish.

At this moment Siddu is the correct CM candidate for Congress, If high commands ingores him, then there will be side effects on Lok-Sabha election of next year.

Many of the Central congress ministers are eying CMs post because they all knows that congress will not come to power at centre so it is best chance to get coveted post for 5 years in Bangalore and they do canvassing in Delhi with high command. If high command do this mistake, then congress will pay heavily on LS elections !

Siddarammaih may be the best candidate. Whoever it may be, we need good governance, corrupt free ministers, end to red tape in the government machinery and people friendly government. If the cabinet approves good development projects the government will surely be re elected next time. CM is judged not by the supporters are rallying behind. It is rather the delivery of the promises to the people and fair governance.

The power bestowed by the people should not be taken for granted. We would need more of commitment to the people by enabling better governance and quality of life rather than political in-fights.

Historically it is proven that selfish political motives will only result in a kick at the butt!
