Belagavi: Vivek Shetty attack - four held for helping MLA's kins' escape

Belagavi, Jan 16: Policemen arrested four persons on the charges of helping  Kagwad MLA, Raju Kage, his brother, Siddagowda Kage, and 11 other accused who are facing the allegation of launching murderous assault on Vivek Shetty, Congress worker from Ugar Khurd village sometime back, to escape.       

The arrested persons are Shankar Vaghmode from Ugar Khurd, who happens to be a friend of the MLA, Malagouda Patil from Kusanala, Sudarshan Nandani from Molwad, and Siddagowda Kage's bar manager, Raveendra Nagave. They have been booked under a case registered in Kagwad police station.

Although the brutal assault had happened on January 1, the police had registered case against 13 persons on January 9. A police team was formed to arrest them.  As there was delay in the arrest of the accused, the then investigation officer, Sathish Chitaguppi, deputy superintendent of police (DySP) of Athani, was replaced with Gokak DySP, E Veerabhadraiah, by district superintendent of police, Dr B R Ravikante Gowda.

DySP E Veerabhadraiah has put the investigation on fast track, and held four persons for helping the accused to escape. Investigation is continuing.
