Jeddah: JAMWA hosts community Iftar

Jeddah, Jun 6: Jokatte Area Muslim Welfare Association (popularly known as JAMWA), hosted a community Iftar programme on June 1 at The Village Restaurant. The programme was attended by eminent Beary community leaders living here.

JAMWA was founded in 2004 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, under the enthusiastic leadership of like-minded youth hailing from Jokatte, with a determination and aim to bring the Gulf based expatriates from there and the surrounding areas under one umbrella and to extend a helping hand to the less fortunate, destitute and downtrodden families of Jokatte and its vicinity.

Immediately after the Magrib prayer, guests were briefed on JAMWA's activities. The programme began with Qira’th recitation by its member Ravoof N M. In his welcome to the guests, Rauf A K F, JAMWA Jeddah unit president, gave a brief introduction of JAMWA and explained the reason which led to its formation back in the year 2004. Engineer Abdulrahman, JAMWA member, explained the importance of learning the Qura’n as it was revealed in the month of Ramadan. It is a guide to humanity. He urged everyone to understand its teachings and implement it in our day to day lives. Later on another of the members, Hanif Haris took the guests through a presentation explaining JAMWA's core activities and its future programmes. Hussain Arikere, JAMWA member thanked all the guests for attending the Iftar programme. The programme concluded with a delicious dinner.



JAMWA's core activities:
1. Education and scholarship
2. Marriage support/mass marriage
3. Monthly ration kit to needy families
4. Ramadan kit distribution
5. Medical camps/helps to needy families
6. Contribution for land to higher education

JAMWA's future plans:
1. To support the breadwinner of the family to set up his own business/livelihood
2. To establish higher education system with Islamic studies for girls
3. Continuation of annual mass marriage
