Dubai: Mukut Mogarnad celebrates Monthi Fest

Dubai, Sep 11: Mukut Mogarnad celebrated the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary on September 8 at Horward Johnson Hotel, Bur Dubai with gaiety and great devotion. Over 125 members from Mogarnad parish took part in the celebration with lot of zeal and enthusiasm.

The traditional celebration commenced with hymns, prayer, and gospel reading. The statue of Infant Mary was showered with flowers amidst the singing of the traditional Konkani hymn “Sakkad Sangata Melyam” and “Moriyyek Hogolsiyan’.

Uttam, a well-known compere took charge of the programme and passionately recounted the old memories of Monthi Fest celebrations back home by explaining the history of the feast. 

Mukut Mogarnad vice-president, Delson D’Silva, welcomed the guests of honor and all the people who were gathered. Addressing the gathering, president, Ronald Martis, appreciated and acknowledged the efforts by all the committee members for organizing the event and called on the parishioners to support the cause of the organization and to further strengthen the group.

The main sponsors were honored and thanked by presenting flower bouquets.

Secretary Violet D’Souza, presented a comprehensive annual report of the association, highlighting the birth, growth and the various events organized by Mukut Mogarnad in the preceding year.

Various games for different age groups and spot games by Uttam kept the crowd cheering and ecstatic. A variety entertainment by youngsters with some scintillating dance performances by children kept the crowd amused. A thrilling dance to the tunes of Bollywood songs by siblings Samson and Seana kept the crowd foot tapping and enchanted.

As per ritual, ‘Novem’ followed by a traditional vegetarian meal and ‘vorn’ was served to all.

The programme concluded with a splendid ‘baila dance’ by the entire gathering.
