Religious conversion seekers must give 30 days advance notice: Jodhpur HC

Jaipur, Dec 15 (IANS): Any person going for religious conversion on his own should inform the District Collector 30 days in advance, the Jodhpur High Court ordered on Friday.

Issuing fresh guidelines for matters relating to religious conversions, Justice G.K. Vyas warned that stringent action would be taken against those found forcing people to convert.

"If any particular organisation is found guilty (of forcing) for caste conversion, its licence will be cancelled," he observed.

On November 28, the amicus curiae appointed by the Rajasthan High Court to look into the legality of religious conversions in the state had advised the court to issue guidelines for conversions until a law was enacted by the government in this regard.

The amicus curiae was appointed by the court following a habeas corpus petition filed by Chirag Singhvi, brother of Aarifa Modi alias Payal Singhvi, which challenged the conversion of his sister from Hinduism to Islam and then her marriage to a Muslim man.

The division bench of justices G.K. Vyas and Virendra Kumar Mathur had adjourned the hearing for arguments by the government and other respondents.

Think how Small number of British conquered whole India. Divide and conquer, bribing etc. People from India itself helped British to settle here for bribe . People won't understand until it's too late.

    Dear hemanth, Bangalore,

British didn't make divide and rule.

It was the kings who were dividing and bribing their people to switch over one kingdom to another to conspire against their own kings and fighting each other.

THANK BRITISH THEY MADE ONE INDIA.

BRITISH DID NOT DIVIDE THE COUNTRY,

FINALLY, PEOPLE WITHIN INDIA HAVE DIVIDED THE COUNTRY.

Good move by the HC. Those seeking conversion should be subjected to counseling & authorities should find the source or reason for conversion.

Many week minded people get brain washed easily & get converted! Some get converted to marry many spouse!!

Indian law is very soft on conversion. No one dares to convert people in Saudi Arabia, as the punishment for conversion is death!

Can those criticize Christian conversions answer why Dr Ambedkar along with 3.6 lakh Hidus renounced Hinduism and espoused Buddhism in 1956, ironically in Nagpur? No Budhist monk had enticed them with any mundane or spiritual gains. Theirs was purely social cause, they couldn't put up with CASTEISM.

Nobody is lawfully converting by applying for name and religion change in govt records.
and no laws can control if a person personally changes his or her belief system within himself and how he prays in his house.
Good people will never backoff from helping poor even if they are prosecuted for their work !!
Conversion issue apart, it would have been Impossible for Mother Theresa to do the Noble work without her rock steady faith in Christianity.

The HC has put 30 days restrictions on conversion and them marriage. But there are lot of marry inter religion without conversion .I have seen many couples married interreligious do not change their religion after marriage or their name and follow religion as per convenience. How HC will take action on these people. We have Kareena Kapoor marrying Saif Ali Khan. Genelia marrying Ritesh Deshmukh. Salman Khursid marrying Louisa. Are these not inter religious marriage. There are many christians also who married in other religions. HC should first ban marriage between religions and castes .Then it will be fun!. We will have a pure race!

That comes under special marriage act.

What are the procedures and alleged incentives given to lure persons to convert to Christianity by other denominations of Christianity, we do not know.

But, Catholics, never convert a person by force or by inducement. However frequently, some people, after looking at the work of charity and brotherhood, want to convert to Catholicism. Catholic Church, never converts a willing person overnight. There is a RCIA (Rites of Conversion Initiating Adults, that is generally from Advent to Easter) takes more than 2 months. Hence, this new 30 days giving notice, does not affect Catholic Church.

Now, what is the guarantee that the person who wants to convert to any religion is not coerced against converting?

HC or for that matter any court does not have a right to infringe upon a individual`s fundament right.

    Shetre,

Even Mother Theresa was not spared when she was serving the poor by these fanatic Hindu Outfits. But that didnt undermine, and till her last breadth, she just continued to work for the poor and the result we have all seen.

Same way there are many who do only service. And in case of religious Conversions what these fanatics cry. from past nearly half a century then by now atleast 50 - 60 per cent of population would have been Christians.

No one does anything for free.

No one forces anyone to convert. If you think and anybody is forcefully converted then you are just being ignorant or you don't really have any respect for other peoples decision.

Finally,... no one is a saint. even the one you mentioned.

Looks like the title Religious conversion seekers is a fake news manipulated from Nagpur.

    I quote from above news:

"If any particular organisation is found guilty (of forcing) for caste conversion, its licence will be cancelled," he observed.

    Unquote.

IT IS NOT A RELIGIOUS CONVERSION OR ACCEPTING ANOTHER FAITH IT IS A CASTE CONVERSION FROM ANY PARTICULAR ORGANIZATION.

IN CHRISTIANITY THERE ARE NO ANY SUCH ORGANISATIONS WHICH GO ON TO CONVERT HINDUS, MUSLIMS, JAINS, SIKHS TO THE FAITH OF CHRISTIANITY.

IT IS THE CHURCH WHO ARE WILLING TO EMBRACE CHRISTIANITY ARE BAPTIZED.

    CHURCH IS NOT AN ORGANIZATION.
