Swamy calls Adani 'biggest NPA trapeze artiste'; group clarifies position

New Delhi, Mar 6 (IANS): BJP MP Subramanian Swamy on Tuesday dropped a bad loan bombshell on industrialist Gautam Adani, calling him the "biggest NPA trapeze artiste in PSUs", but the group clarified that it had diligently and regularly serviced all its debt.

In a widely commented and shared tweet, Swamy said Adani, believed to be close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, should be made accountable or he would file a Public Interest Litigation in the court for recovery of bank loans from him.

"The biggest NPA trapeze artiste in PSUs is Gautam Adani. It is time he is made accountable or a PIL is inevitable," Swamy tweeted."

"The singular critical test for debt is its regular servicing -- something which the Adani Group has implemented diligently, since its inception," the company clarified in an official statement.

It said the group's dependence on public sector banks for long-term borrowings is less than 50 per cent at about Rs 34,000 crore and it is regularly serviced.

"Adani Group has created world class assets and aggregate net asset block of Indian operations stands at over Rs 110,000 crore. Aggregate net worth of the listed entities stands at over Rs 40,000 crore and aggregate EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation) stands at Rs 24,000 crore," the company statement said.

Over the last 20 years, Adani Group has created "world class projects" in the areas of port and logistics, power generation, power transmission, agri business, mining and renewable generation.

The company statement said it provides direct employment to over 11,000 people and contributes "significantly to the exchequer and the economy".

However, according to Bloomberg data, as of September 2017, Adani Power had a total debt of Rs 47,609.43 crore, Adani Transmission Rs 8,356.07 crore, Adani Enterprises Rs 22,424.44 crore and Adani Ports Rs 20.791.15 crore.

The ports tycoon and his family's net worth was believed to be $11 billion in 2017 -- making him the 10th richest man in India, according to Forbes.

Swamiji, How do you expect PM Modi speak against those companies have links through marriages to the Ambani and Adani families.

Rotomac promoter Vikram Kothari Vikram Kothari’s daughter, Namrata, is married to Pranav Adani, a nephew of the industrialist Gautam Adani.

Pranav joined the Adani empire after completing his business management degree from Boston University, going on to become the managing director of Adani Wilmer, the group’s agri-business arm. ‘Namrata Adani’ is named in Adani corporate documents and associated with Pranav Adani.
The Adani family, incidentally, is also related to the only other diamond merchant defaulter that is comparable to Nirav Modi – Jatin Mehta of Winsome Diamond fame.
In 2012, Jatin Mehta’s son Suraj married Krupa, the daughter of Gautam Adani’s brother, Vinod Shantilal Adani.
Incidentally, Vinod Adani’s name in recent times has appeared in the over-invoicing of imports case that the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has slapped on the Adani Group. In its notice, the DRI alleged that the Mauritius entity through which the extra money was routed was allegedly controlled by “Vinod Shantilal Shah, alias Vinod Shantilal Adani”.
Swamiji, Vikram Kothari father used to sell famous brand 'Paan parag' which used tagline 'baratiyo ka swagat Pan Parag se kijiye' featuring Ashok Kumar and Shammi Kapoor. His son applied 'Chuna' to Indian public sector bank. Former PM Vajpayee gave him best businessman award and made Director of Air India.
Now one can understand why Indian flagship carrier who are pioneer for Singapore Airlines growth in such a shamble position.
Swamiji, It is "sab andar ki baat hai" big family matter of Gujarat Model.

This is the facade these Gujaratis spread that they are providing employment to many individuals to justify their huge bank loans and grab prime Govt/ Private land. Most of the individuals they hire are Gujaratis. They decide their own pay packages from these huge loans and so we come across many Indian being included in the Forbes list of Millioners and Billioners. Imagine the house that Mukesh Ambani has built for himself. It is Money from Banks and from the public as Reliance is known to float debuntures and shares.

Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy who knows every secret of Sangh Parivar is not easy handle. He is unhappy with Mr.Jaitley functioning of Indian economy. Unfortunately he became toy in the hand of BJP which claps as keyed.

Oh really ? And, what is the amount Karti Chidambaram gained out of his father's minister-ship ? Rs. 305 Crores. I am not defending the Chidambaram duo but see the irony !

A person close to PM Modi owes Rs 47,609.43 crore to the banks but the CBI is going all lengths to nail the son of ex-FM. That is why, people are not interested in listening to the ruling party.

Very soon we will hear about Adanis leaving the coutnry - mark my words !
