RSS may project Pranab Mukherjee as PM nominee in 2019: Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut

Mumbai, Jun 10 (PTI): The RSS may project former president Pranab Mukherjee as a prime ministerial candidate if the BJP falls short of a majority in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls and other parties refuse to back Narendra Modi for the post, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said here today.

His speculation was, however, refuted by Mukherjee's daughter, who said her father had no plans to return to active politics.

The Sena leader further said the RSS's agenda behind inviting Mukherjee as the chief guest to one of its event, held in Nagpur on June 7, would only be clear after the 2019 general elections.

"The scenario prevalent in the country is such that the BJP will not win a majority in 2019. If there is a fractured mandate and other parties do not support Modi, Mukherjee will be projected as a prime ministerial candidate, who will be acceptable to all," Raut told PTI.

Meanwhile, reacting to the Sena leader's statement, the former president's daughter and Congress leader Sharmistha Mukherjee tweeted: "Mr. Raut, after retiring as President of India, my father is NOT going to enter into active politics again."

Raut said Mukherjee, during his address at the RSS headquarters in Nagpur, was expected to speak on serious issues plaguing the country since the former president is also an economist.

"Pranab Mukherjee did not speak on serious issues plaguing the country. He also did not talk about the unrest in the judiciary. The government has been ineffective on the issues of price rise and unemployment. He did not mention these issues. As an economist, he was expected to speak on them," he added.

The former president's decision to address the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's (RSS) "Shiksha Varg" and attend the organisation's drill on June 7 did not go down well with the Congress leaders initially, though the party, later, lauded Mukherjee's speech.

His Highness, there could not be a more blatant lie than this as ‘great son of mother India’ founded RSS in 1925 to oppose the united freedom struggle for an inclusive India. He did not join the freedom struggle because it was being fought for an all-inclusive India and not a Hindu State. He declared minorities, specially Muslims the enemy of India and not the British rulers. He was a diehard Casteist. He was inimical towards the Tricolour which had become a National Flag for resistance to the British 1930 onward. His Hindutva icon VD Savarkar led Hindu Mahasabha ran coalition governments with the Muslim League in 1942 in Bengal, Sind and NWFP when Congress was banned, the country had become a jail and hundreds of patriotic Indians were being ruthlessly massacred for daring to carry the Tricolour or unfurl it at house tops. Hedgewar believed in Hindu nationalism as opposed to Indian nationalism.
Sir, your character certificate to Hedgewar as ‘great son of mother India’ is not only insult of the great anti-colonial freedom struggle but also belittling of the great sacrifices of Bhagat Singh, Ashfaqullah Khan, Chander Shekhar Azad, Jatin Das, Potti Sreeramulu and thousands other revolutionaries who died for the freedom of India. It was a sad day for the Indian Republic that Hedgewar was idolized by a person who enjoyed all the fruits of the Indian constitutional polity and was part of Congress which led the freedom struggle.

    HEDGEWAR HATED THE TRICOLOUR
HEDGEWAR ACTED AS AGENT PROVOCATEUR INSTIGATING COMMUNAL RIOTS
    HEDGEWAR WAS A DIEHARD CASTEIST
HEDGEWAR SHAMELESSLY BETRAYED THE FREEDOM STRUGGLE
Despite all such anti-national and anti-humanity acts/beliefs of Hedgewar you have declared him as “great son of Mother India”. If he was so then who was Gandhi ji who opposed RSS and was killed by the Hindutva assassins who like RSS called themselves as Hindu nationalists.
YOU HAVE DENIGRATED MOTHER INDIA BY DESCRIBING HEDGEWAR AS GREAT SON OF THE MOTHERLAND.

Wrong. Modi will sworn in as PM in 2019 even if BJP falls short of majority, like how Yeddyurappa did.

It's clear now beyond doubt that Modi is Feku and people don't trust his words. Next, Modi's Modinomics is a total disaster. Thirdly there are no able candidates in BJP who are fit to be leaders. RSS doesn't rely on its own Bhakts who passed out of Shakas.

Your Nagpur Chaddi logic can not be applied in congress. Congress is a matured political party which has successfully manoeuvred through ups and down in its long life time of more than 100 years. You concentrate on saving your fake Chaddi party in next election which is likely to lose.

Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut is absolutely right. saying RSS may project Pranab Mukherjee as PM nominee in 2019 if BJP failed to get majority. Without any hidden agenda, RSS will not call the Ex President of India, will not be called for as the chief guest to one of its event, held in Nagpur on June 7,.

These politicians can read the message in between the lines.
