Congress asks Modi, Shah to come clean on demonetisation 'scam'

New Delhi, Jun 22 (IANS): The Congress on Friday alleged that the demonetisation carried out by the Narendra Modi government was the "biggest scam in Independent India" to convert black money into white and the maximum deposits in cooperative banks in just five days were in BJP-ruled states, mainly Gujarat.

Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said that RTI queries had revealed that Ahmedabad District Cooperative Bank, whose directors include BJP chief Amit Shah, received the highest amount of old demonetised notes of Rs 745.58 crore in just five days.

"Nineteen months post 'Modi made disaster' of demonetisation, it is now officially clear that this entire exercise was the biggest scam in independent India, indulged to convert its ill-gotten 'black money' into 'white'," Surjewala said.

He said a comprehensive probe into demonetisation has become the need of the hour as one of the aspects of the revelations from an RTI query showed the maximum deposits in district cooperative banks that were controlled by Bharatiya Janata Party leaders including its President Amit Shah.

IANS had done a story on Thursday based on a RTI reply which said that a bank with Amit Shah as a director collected the highest amount of banned notes among DCCBs (District Central Cooperative Banks).

Surjewala said both Modi and Shah need to come clean on the fact that in 11 district co-operative banks in Gujarat headed by BJP leaders, old notes worth Rs 3,118.51 crore were deposited within the five days during which it was allowed.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi also hit out at Shah in a tweet.

"Congratulations Amit Shahji, Director, Ahmedabad Dist. Cooperative Bank, on your bank winning first prize in the conversion of old notes to new race. Rs 750 crore in five days! Millions of Indians whose lives were destroyed by demonetisation, salute your achievement. #ShahZyadaKhaGaya."

One of the readers here has called the Congress a chor party. Yes, certainly yes. I agree with that. That is why the people of this country chose this BJP to give good governance. That is why the chowkidar was elected by the people to safeguard the interests of our country. But see what has happened. What have the chowkidar and his Gujju friend done? Dr. Manmohan Singh has termed the demonetisation an organised loot. How true! It sounds so annoying when we hear the PM talk about eradicating corruption. How long can these politicians keep cheating the people of this country? They are not politicians, they are ruthless butchers who are stripping the nation and all of us naked.

No IT raids on BJP members!?!?!?!. Two reasons one is all black converted to white midnight before Demonitisation, so no BJP members stood in the bank line to convert the money they had. Second, paid IT and ED is doing a faithful service to thier masters and targeting only opposition for meagre amount for media highlight, votes and divert attention compared to BJP hoarding huge black unaccounted money.

You are upsoluttly right. Congress was a chor party. However, now BJP become maha chor party. It has over taken congress and it become most corrupt political party. Truth always bitter. If Amith Shah is not done anything wrong then let Modi government make an enquiry on this issue to give clear pucture of the situation to general public. My final conclusion is all political parties are fooling the general public and looting the nation. Public have only option to chose less choor party than maha choor party!

'Vinci Congress' is just tryin to divert public attention. After the latest 'pro paki ' comments. They have nothing to rake up so just for heck of it, goin back one and half year and issue statements. Dmon is a success and BJP has won many states after that ousting the ' Vinci Congress' that never won any. The future of 'vinci congress' is the hands of HDK.
