Bantwal, Apr 9: The dead body of a schoolboy, who had gone missing on Saturday afternoon, was found in a lake in Kuppila, Kakhile village, on Saturday night.
The deceased has been identified as Azim (13), a class 8 student of a private English medium school in Mittabailu near BC Road. He was the son of Abdul Razak, a local resident.
On Saturday afternoon, Azim was with his friends at his grandmother's house in Panemangaluru. However, he suddenly went missing after noon. His family members tried to contact him but were unable to do so.
They filed a missing complaint at the Bantwal city police station when the mobile phone in Azim's possession kept ringing but went unanswered.
When the police traced the location of Azim's mobile phone, they found his clothes, shoes, and mobile on the top of the lake near Kallige village. The police conducted a search in the lake and found the boy's dead body late at night.
The police lifted the body from the water and took it to the Bantwal Government Hospital mortuary. Investigations are ongoing.
