Dear Cliffy, My Condolences to you, your family, and your loved ones. Following is a note in respect of your Dad's memory. "Charliam" as he was fondly called, will be greatly missed. He was a towering figure in Kulshekar-land and Cordel-Church, and I have a lot of fond memories of me and my dad visiting the bakery in the late 70's after Sunday morning mass. I recall his Sunday mass readings and his dedicated service to Kulshekar Church. His organizational and social skills during Church events during the 70’s and 80’s were exemplary. At the bakery, he was a wonderful and kind person, greeting people with a genuine smile and calling them by their first name (he remembered everyone). A true gentleman, he carried a lot of respect and was kind in the way the treated people. Rest in Peace dear Charliam; may God grant your soul Eternal Peace. Dear Cliffy, we will remember you and your family members in our Prayers during these difficult times.

Deeply saddened by the demise of Charly'am, a respected senior Konkani folk artist (Gumat Player/Singer)and a wonderful human being.
Our acquaintance was of not even four years. I found in him a straight forward man, a good friend and a dedicated artist. Just three years back in March 2017 at the age of 85, he traveled with us by train all the way to Bombay and back to perform and lead the ‘Gumtam’ performance with his troupe. (He could have easily traveled comfortably by plane, but he wanted to be with his buddies) There he mesmerized the audience with his spirited performance. His singing and playing Gumat was well appreciated by one and all. I will never forget that trip, his dedication and his genuine love for Konkani.
This fear of pandemic has robbed me a chance to be with him once more, or to say a proper goodbye and tell him how much I revered him. May God rest his great soul in peace and give his bereaved family strength to bear this irreparable loss.
