Date: 13 May, 2020

8.30 am - The mortal remains will be brought to the house.

Address: No.425, 1st Main, 7th block, Koramangala, Bangalore.

9.30 am - The mortal remains will be taken to St. Anthony Friary
Church, Hosur Road

Mass at 10 am, followed by burial at St. Patrick Cemetery, Hosur Road.

Limited crowd.

Dear Mrs. Colaco and family,
whenever I get the news of of my classmates passing away, especially those with whom I had close encounters during our school days I feel the loss deep in my heart and it also brings back lots of fond memories of those years. Rommel was in our class from 1958 till 1962. When I received the news of Rommel’s sudden demise my thoughts jumped back to the year 1960. Exactly 60 years ago we were preparing our move from the St. Aloysius Middle School to the High School for the III Form. 3 weeks after our school reopened in June 1960 a new boy joined our class. He was a sickly boy and being tall the teacher wanted him to sit on one of the rear benches but soon the teacher noticed some of the boys were a bit hesitant to give him the seat next to them. The teacher was so happy when Rommel readily gave the boy place next to himself. I was feeling sorry for that boy. I would have made him sit next to me but being short I had to sit on the first bench. Rommel was a happy go lucky boy and I used to admire such boys because they were not scared of anything. But this action of him reminded me of Jesus saying „WHATSOEVER YOU DO TO THE LEAST OF MY BROTHERS THAT YOU DO UNTO ME!“. Rommel and I became close friends and he started coming to our house regularly to take down my notes and he was very much impressed with my home laboratory and joined me in various experiments. Unfortunately in 1962 our classes were reshuffled due to optional subjects and we were put in different divisions and I felt very sad. After SSLC we lost trace of each other but I am sure he must have been a comfort for many during his life time. Let us therefore seek solace in the words of Pope John XXIII " Our dear departed ones are not absent from us, they are around us but just invisible!".
