Fr Benjamin Aranha (77), originally from Shirva, son of the late Philip Aranha and the late Regina Aranha, passed away on June 28, 2021.
Funeral at 3.00 pm on Tuesday, June 29 at Chikmagalur.

Very sad to hear the sad demise of Fr Benjamin Aranha whom I first met in 1973 or 74 when we went to give a Christmas programme in Theresapura as seminarians. I always admired his wittiness and joyful life. Very homely and ready to render a service when required. We could count on him. RIP

I am saddened to hear about the demise of dear Fr. Benjamin Aranha. Deepest condolences to his bereaved family members. I had the privilege of knowing Father personally, when I was the Vice- President of the Koppa Parish Council. He had been very active in several parish activities, always volunteering his time with the youth and parishioners of Koppa, Chikmagaluru. He had a great sense of humor which lightened many situations. His life is an example of simplicity, service, kindness and compassion. His gentle soul will always be in our hearts. Rest in Peace Fr. Aranha.

Rest in Peace Father. I was in Saklaspur between 1963 and December 1978 but I do not remember him. May be I lost memory. I knew FrMarcel Pinto, Fr.Patrick D'Souza, Fr.Ignatius D'Costa, Fr.Andrew Saldanha etc. Anyway, Naveen Frank may be right. He is my second cousin.
Heartfelt condolences to the family members of Fr Benjamin Aranha. Sorry to note that he suffered much due to illness. I used to meet him during my visits to our sisters in chikmagalur diocese. Very humbe, down to earth and faith-filled person who cared for his parishioners and loved them. May he enjoy erernal rest.
Fr. Aranha will always be fondly remembered by the parishoners of Sakleshpur parish as he was the one who brought about reconcilation between the Laity and the Faithful in the late Seventies. I also met him several times in the Eighties when I was posted at Hassan. A truly simple man and a good priest. He was well known for his subtle humor that lightened any difficult situations. Rest in peace Fr. Aranha and enjoy a well earned Eternal Bliss !
