William 'Willie' Castelino (104), husband of Millie, father of Trevor, Jenny and Mark, grandfather of Danielle, Tom, Katie, Maya and Max, passed away on December 1, 2023. Funeral details will be announced later.

A man for all seasons I cherish many happy memories with Uncle Willie since he visited Kampala in 1953 as a bachelor when he was in Dar-a-Salam, and again when he visited with aunty Millie and baby Trevor. After moving to Mbale and then Kampala he was a prominent leader in the community and beyond. He was always very good to me and he brought Dotty and myself together in 1966 in Mangalore. Our families shared a lot together and in particular we lived together in the Maresfield refugee camp in Sussex, U.K. We will carry happy memories of him always and he will always be with us in our hearts
My deepest condolences to the Castelinos. I've only ever met Uncle Willie once, but that one meeting told me everything I needed to know about him. I was totally impressed with his strength, resilience and jovial nature (even in his old age) and it is devastating to hear of his passing. I can only imagine how hard this loss will be for Aunty Millie, Mark, Trevor, Jenny and their families. God rest your soul Uncle Willie, you've lived a good life and now I'm sure you must be preparing your delicious sannas for friends and family in heaven!
An era has ended, from Urwa to Uganda to Kent. We are so glad that my UK based cousin Pablo Albuquerque drove us to uncle Willie's house in Faversham, Kent back in 2018 to spend a day with him and aunty Millie during our trip. We will never forget that he cooked an entire meal himself for the four of us and Pablo, a typically Mangalorean spread including sannas and pork. He was all of 99 at the time. Since that time we enjoyed all the family Zoom calls periodically in which he participated actively. We will pray for his soul to rest in eternal peace and also for aunty Millie, Mark, Jenny and Trevor and all loved ones in your immense bereavement, as it slowly sinks in that he is no more after a life of over a hundred years. He will be missed but will live on in every person's heart and mind who he met. May his soul rest in peace and our condolences to his family in mourning.

Je me souviens, Uncle Willie! Quebec's motto seems very appropriate. Uncle Willie touched everyone he met. He was a true gentleman, and a very kind, warm and generous soul. I have known him all my life, and never a disparaging comment did he ever utter. His signature smile and mischievous eyes always shone. His pork bafad was legendary. He was the last of his generation in the Mascarenhas family to join his siblings and cousins in Heaven. I'm sure that my Dad and Mom welcomed him with him with open arms and a peg or two of the finest scotch, and drank to the health all of us all of us left behind on earth. I will always Remember!
