Funeral cortege leaves the residence "Christine", Falnir, Mangalore at 3:00 pm, followed by Mass at 3:30 pm in Our Lady of Miracles Church, Milagres, Mangalore on Sunday, February 25.

My heartfelt condolences to the entire Goveas family. May her soul rest in eternal peace. I knew Auntie Lucy from my college years she was kind and loving lady. She used to love music. I remember how warmly she used to welcome me whenever I visited them with my guitar. She had also asked me play music for her son Michael’s roce and wedding. Also paid me for arranging the music. I lost contact from the time I left Mangalore in 1970’s.

A loving mother, a gracious person, a devout member of the prestigious Milagres Parish Mrs. Lucy Goveas has this day joyfully entered her heavenly abode after an admirable journey of 96 years. Her life was filled with deep Christian faith and exemplary qualities such as patience and resilience. Moreover she was defined by the integrity and nobility of her beloved husband late mr. Baptist Goveas, a man of peace and forgiveness. In fact she imbibed and inculcated in letter and spirit that very peace and forgiveness as a legacy and passed it on to the family, rather transcended to the entire progeny comprising 11 children and spouses, 20 grandchildren and spouses and 24 great grandchildren. The house will now be desolate bereft of that sweet resonance ‘ Maa….Mumma….Nana…’ nevertheless her endearing love, care and service with that beaming smile will ever remain indelible in the hearts and minds of not only the members of the family but also of her friends and well wishers who adorably referred to her as ‘Dimple Lucy’. Indeed a memorable passing away, as desired by her on a Saturday !! May her noble soul repose in eternal bliss.
