It’s very sad to know that Johncey left this world so early. Johncey was in Uganda, Mumbai, Bahrain, Muscat and again in Bahrain. I had seen him 15 years ago. Very enterprising, loving and sporty person Johncey was. Never had a chance to see Johncey’s family. I remember the picture of 1972 when Idi Amin in Uganda sent all Indians out from there when many of them reached all over the world like UK, Gulf, India, Australia and many other countries of the world. Johncey was one of them. I had a chance to stay with him in Mumbai’s Taj Mahal intercontinental for one night along with my other friends-Hilary, Roney…… when he arrived from Bahrain and then proceeding to Muscat. And after many years again in Bahrain. May Johncey’s departed soul rest in eternal peace. My heartfelt sympathies to all his beloved family members.

Shocked to hear the news of sad & untimely demise of Shri Johncy Pinto, one of the great legends who promoted Konkani language and its culture in the Arabian soil. Johncy was one of the great leaders who formed Muscat Konkani Cultural Centre (MKCC), one of the first Konkani Associations in the entire Gulf during the 70's. He was a great social worker who helped in collecting funds for various Mangalorean development projects.

While he was in Muscat, though he had a big position yet he possessed a down-to-earth personality. He helped many fellow Mangaloreans to secure jobs in Oman and many of them are still continuing in their jobs in making their better future. He was a dynamic leader who promoted Konkani art & culture in Muscat including 'Monti Fest' for the first time in Muscat in the year 1988.

Really it is a sad moment for the entire Mangalorean Community in Oman during the 20th celebration of the Feast of Nativity held at Ruwi Church today. We pray Almighty God that He may grant enough strength to his beloved wife Cynthia, children and the entire bereaved family to bear this terrible & irreparable loss. May the great soul of Johncy Pinto rest in peace!
