Fr Salvadore Serrao SVD (89), Soverdia House, Andheri East, Mumbai, passed away on December 2, 2024.
Funeral on Wednesday, December 4 at 11.00 am in Sacred Heart Church, Andheri East, Mumbai.
Our heartfelt condolences and prayers to the SVD fathers and bereaved family members on the sad demise of Fr. Salvadore. May his soul rest in peace. Amen.
A big thank you, Fr Serrao for your guidance and service. You were a great support to my parents, Joseph and Clara Fernandes. You will be missed. Our condolences go out to all family and friends.
Very sad to hear about the passing of our dear Fr. Serrao. Our heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family, friends and members of the Society of the Divine Word. Fr. Serrao was a very special priest to my family and myself. Growing up as a teenager, he cared for me particularly when I broke my arm at St. Peter’s Apostolic School, and later in my adult life when I settled in Bombay and bought a flat, he blessed it, when I decided to marry Loleeta, he blessed our marriage at St. Peter’s Church, Bandra and when we had our second child Alroy, he baptized him at St. Theresa’s Church, Bandra. Although I am in Canada for the last 30 years, my family and I were extremely close to Fr. Serrao. Calling him regularly, visiting him whenever we were down in India and seeking his guidance, prayers, and advice. Our hearts are broken, but are happy knowing that he is in a safe place now. Heartfelt condolences to the bereaved members of Fr. Serrao's family. May God grant him eternal rest and may his soul rest in eternal peace. We will miss Fr. Serrao and it's a great loss to us, as he was very close to us. He used to stay with us whenever he visited Margao. He was a very devout and selfless priest. He also was a handson person capable of doing any type of work, very hardworking. His memories will last with us for a very long time. Our regret is that we could not meet him one last time.
