Fr Cornelius Monteiro OFMCap (85), a Capuchin priest, passed away on January 2, 2025 in St Fidelis Friary, Monte Mariano, Farangipet.

Mortal remains will be kept for public viewing at 3.00 pm on Friday, January 3 in St Fidelis Friary Chapel, Farangipet and the funeral Mass followed by burial will take place at 4.00 pm.

May Soul of Fr. Cornelius rest in peace. Remember Fr. Cornelius as a humble priest who used to bring communion to my dad while he was hospitalized. He forgot to wear his sandals and came barefoot to the hospital as his focus was bringing Jesus to the ailing patient in bed. I can never forget his simplicity and kindheartedness. Rest in Peace Father.

Fr. Cornelius was witty , fun-loving, but above all, a very dedicated priest. I have known Fr Cornelius form the Mysore days of the late 80’s where he was one of the pioneering Capuchin Community members of the Regional Theologate at Bogadi. I remember his visits to our Jesuit Home along with the late Fr Anil. In the passing away of Fr Cornelius, we have lost a good and holy priest. My heartfelt condolences to the Capuchin Provincial and the members of the Province and his dear family members. May his soul rest in peace. Naveen Frank Sharjah UAE

Father Cornelius was more than just a priest; he was a friend, a confidant, and a guiding light to our community. His jovial spirit, infectious laughter, and down-to-earth nature made him a beloved figure in our lives. As a spiritual leader, Father Cornelius inspired countless souls, and his legacy will continue to live on in our hearts. We will deeply miss his presence, but we take comfort in the memories we shared with him. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his selfless service to our community be a shining example to us all. Rest in peace, dear Father Cornelius. Your memory will never fade in our hearts.

From our childhood days Fr Cornelius is known to our family, he was our guide, mentor & a very close spiritual leader in our up bringing. He has gone through very tuff times in establishing the house of our Lord & Saviour, very simple in nature with great commitment to Society. Today he is resting in the hands of our creator. We cherish his good work and deeds in all walks of our life. May his soul rest in eternal peace. Let us remember Fr. in our daily prayers.
