Mangalore: Music Teacher Patric Carlo (mirniam) No more
Mangalore, Jul 23: Patric Carlo(81), who worked for 62 long years at the Bishop's House here as sacristan and music teacher, expired at Father Muller's Hopital in the city on Wednesday, July 23 after a brief illness.
Carlo, born as the eldest of the three children of Rozario and Aphrogena Carlo on March 9, 1927 at Agrar, came to Bishop's House in the year 1946. During his stay there, he served under the directions of five bishops of Mangalore diocese, prviding musical training to hundreds of people.
Patric Carlo was adept at playing melodious music through various musical instruments. He had learnt the skill of making and repairing hormonium and pedal organs. He made several musical instruments on his own and repaired them too. Carlo was credited with training many renowned artists including Apolinaris D'Souza, Joel Pereira, Alwyn D'Cunha (Valli Derebail), Vincent Monteiro (music teacher Ashok Nagar), late Bennet Pinto etc.,
Considering the services Carlo rendered to the field of music, The Academy of Music Sciences honoured him. He expresed his multi-faceted talent as a poet and writer too. Several of his poems were published in periodicals like Rakno, Mitr, Amchi Mai Konkani etc., He had special mastery over western music.
Eucharist will be orgnised at 12 noon on Thursday, July 24 at the Bishop's House, to pay tributes to him. Final rites will be conducted at the Agrar church at 3.30 pm on the same day.
