Prof (Dr) Anand Nayak (67), Switzerland ,

Prof (Dr) Anand Nayak ( 67), son of the late J J Rego and Lucy Rego, brother of the late Jossy, Sunny, Ozzie, Rennie, Wally, Teddy and Obie, Sr Dolores Rego FMM, Fr Rossi Rego SJ, Sr Mirabelle A C and Nona Rego, husband of Ann Marie and father of Lucie, Jeremie and Mael passed away on Friday September 4, 2009.

A former Jesuit, Dr Nayak was the director of the Institute of Missiology and Science of Religions at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland.

Dr Nayak was also a lecturer at the University of Neuchâtel, where he was involved in research activities on Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam and Comparative religions.

His mortal remains will be flown on September 8 to Corminboeuf, Switzerland, where the funeral will take place.

Dr Anand Nayak or Uncle Bonnie as I used to call him was just recently in touch with me commenting on my articles whilst also sending me his book on Fr Anthony Dmello of whom I am a great fan. This is a big shock to me. Uncle Bonnie was a brilliant mind and a vibrant personality. The last vivid memory I have of him is singing with him and his daughter along with my brother when we last met in London. He will surely be missed not only by the family but the thousands who followed him and his teachings. May his soul rest in peace.

Heartfelt Condolences to the bereaved family. Dr Anand visited to our parish year before last. He was generous towards poor families and showed Christ''s love towards them. A generous person lived according to Gospel Values. All the families who have got help from him and the whole Christian community of Holy Cross Parish Eliarpadavu pray for his soul. May good GOD grant him eternal rest.

I''ve learned the news and just can''t believe it. I saw Anand this summer in Villedieu and he took me back home with other people as he usually did. All his ''Sadhana friends and disciples'' are in distress. I wish I could know when the funeral will take place. Thanks in advance for sharing this news.
