Mangalore, Feb. 2: Dr Louella Lobo Prabhu nee Castelino (62), wife of the late J M Lobo Prabhu ICS and former MP, passed away on Monday evening (January 31).
She is said to have had a fall and had been severely injured. She was rushed to the hospital but it was of no avail.
Louella was a multifaceted personality - a musician, music-writer, essayist, political analyst, journalist, author-poet, playwright, orator and more. In recognition of her literary and musical achievements, she had been conferred D Litt (Honoris Causa). Until her death, she had been living in 'Chateau de Lou' on the Light House Hill.
She is survived by her lone daughter Giselle, married to Dharmendra Mehta, both formerly of Indian Revenue Service (IRS), now entrepreneurs running a firm called 'Allegro Ventures'.
Funeral cortege leaves residence 'Chateau de Lou', Light House Hill, Mangalore, at 3-30 pm on Wednesday, February 2, 2005 for the Church of Our Lady of Miracles, Milagres, Mangalore for a Requiem Mass, followed by interment in the cemetery of St Francis Xavier Church, Bijai.
