VHP Pinto, 77, son of late Denis and Theresa Pinto of Kadri, Mangalore, passed away peacefully at Shanti Avedna Hospice, Mumbai, on June 28, 2011 after a brief illness patiently borne.  He was a bachelor. Valerian Pinto was former Manager (Technical & Training), General Insurance Corporation of India, Management Consultant and Faculty Member of Insurance Institute of India.  He was associated with Insurance Management Training throughout his career and was the author of several books on insurance.

Pinto was closely associated with the Insurance Institute of India almost to the very end as a Trainer, Examiner and Author of several courses.  He had also conducted training for the Officers of Kenindia Assurance Co., in Nairobi, Kenya and at the Malaysian Insurance Institute, Kuala Lumpur.

The last rites will be performed at Shivaji Park electric crematorium on June 29 at 6 pm
