Fr Valentine Crasta (Martin) OFM (78), son of the late Joseph and the late Mary Crasta, Omzoor, brother of the late Cecilia, the late Geofrey, the late Veronica (Ellu), the late Sr Valentina, Sr Deo Mira (Mangalore), Sr James (Bangalore), passed away at Palemaner, Andhra Pradesh, on Monday, December 5, 2011.

Funeral will be held at St Louis Friary Palamaner, Chitoor District, AP, on Tuesday, December 6 at 11.00 a.m.

This morning as I was thinking of Fr. Valentine, my mentor, guide in my boyhood years in Bellary, I googled and to my shock learnt of his passing. My condolences to the family of a 'star of Omzoor' who had a great impact and influence on my life. -Greg

Fr. Val was a mentor ,a friend,a guide,to our family. In distress, he was a pillar of strength.His sermons were so inspiring and he deepened our faith and spirituality by his exemplary life . A big void in my life. I never thought that would be my last conversation with him in 2011. Truly a man of God and the people like most Franciscans. May god bless them to continue Fr Val's work for those in pain and suffering.

I know Fr . Valentine, from Child hood. he is the one who taught me Catechism for my First Holy communion. He was behind me from my child hood to till i was youth in St.Antonys Friary, Madivala, Banagalore. I have not met him since 16 years. He was a great Father, not only to me for our parish. It was a sudden shock for me when my mom told me of his sudden demise. He will make a point to give a hand shake and regards after the mass to his parishoners. it was real shock. we pray to the almighty to grant strength to his family and friends bear the sudden loss of him. May his soul rest in peace.

This news of Fr. Valentine death has come as a great shock to us. I have fond memories of him when I visited Mangalore as child, as well as of much later when I met him again in Dubai in 2005. He had some great views to share on service to people and on the practice of faith. May his soul rest in peace.
