Francis Alex D’Souza (Franky) (64), son of the late Victor and the late Benedicta, brother of the late Judith, the late Jacintha, the late Genevieve and Oswald (Abu Dhabi), brother-in- law of Fabian and Blanche, uncle of Brian, Colin, Jacqueline, Manisha, Roshan/Reshma & Rajesh, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 morning in Mangalore due to massive heart attack.

Mortal remains will be brought directly to Our Lady of Pompei Church, Gurpur, Kaikamba on Thursday 08 December 2011 at 3 p.m. for public viewing and to pay last respects to the departed , followed by Holy Mass at 4 p.m. and burial.

reminds me of my childhood days when late bendre/franky uncle along with my Late Richie Bappu & other youth from PYC spent time together at our home,in PYC drama,club near jerry master house, church campus etc. the unity,spirit and the drama craze of the PYC group in the 80's , early 90's is still fresh in my memories. 1 of the greats in mangalore/konkani dramas/kaikamba is no more. May his soul rest in peace.

Franky was a multitalented performer and down to earth human being with a great desire to inspire people to present their talents. As Valerian Peres, one of the past presidents of Pompei Youngsters Club – Kaikamba, rightly said – he was instrumental to modernize the dramatics at Our Lady of Pompei Parish - Gurpur Kaikamba. He was the person gave new dimension to many talents. I can still see his inspiration and encouragement in our younger generation in the parish. We will remember you Franky, now and always.

Sorry! to hear this. It's a great shock for me as I was remembering him just three days back as he came in to my dreams.

About 35 years back when he settled in our place Kaikamba from Bendoor he really inspired us with his humors and made us great with his ideology, especially with regard to the dramatics. And till today our younger generation is prospering with the same encouragement.

May Almighty God grant him eternal rest.

In fact I was thinking often why this man is not calling me for quite some time as we were speaking to each other often for some time.

And today he is in Heavens. We pray that May Almighty God grant his soul peace and rest in heavenly abode.

The sudden demise of our dear friend Franky makes me feel very sad. Even though my visits to India were very rare, Franky was always there like a guardian Angel accompanying me on my trips to the interiors of S. Kanara in search of our ancestral roots. Some of these journeys were so adventurous, there were times when I felt as if I was travelling with David Livingstone exploring the dark continent. Franky was a simple but a warm hearted person ever ready to help. He has contributed a lot to the Mangalorean culture in his own ways and we can all be proud of him. Frankie's death is another piece of sad news for all those who knew him or his family.

My distant memory of Frankie was during a trip to Mangalore where we visited his home. He was a kind person.
