So sad to hear the demise of Rev Fr Stan, a nice human being always had a tender & compassionate heart towards the poor & needy students of SAC. Indeed he has helped me during my College days in many ways as Vice-Principal & Rector. May his soul RIP.
Fr. Stany was my confessor of choice, and he was always ready to hear my confessions, even when he was very sick. We sw him resting like an angel at his funeral service. He was a great man, indeed!
With deep sorrow on the occasion of the sad demise of our beloved former Vice Principal and Professor of Chemistry, I recollect my fond association with him during my College days. In fact he was the first staff member who detected my strange way of writing down the notes in the form of text books, because it costed me a lot of time and had an effect on my performances in the exams. He used to call me to his room to give me special guidance evn during the summer holidays. I was deeply moved when he gave me a surprise visit at my house on the eve of my departure from Mangalore on the 28th December 1969. During my last trip to India in the year 2000 I went to see him at FRM and was taken by surprise the way he hugged me and invited me to join him for lunch at the FRM . When I told him that I still use his notes which I wrote in the form of text books for my work in the German Universities he felt very proud. He was man of great wisdom and a true follower of St. Ignatius of Loyola. His life can be defined as state of equilibrium between Science and Religion. He was God's gift to all of us. May his soul rest in peace.
He is truly a saint
please accept our heartfelt condolences.may his soul rest in peace.

May his Soul Rest in Peace.
Father Stany Vas was at St Josephs Boys School Bangalore in the 70s. Although he didn't teach me he was my priest of choice for confession during mass on Friday morning. It wasn't just me, the queue outside his confessional was usually many times longer than the other one, a testament to his compassion, understanding and ability to relate young people. RIP
Fr. Stany was my Vice Principal at SAC. Having just returned from USA with a Ph.D.(very few Ph.Ds then) he brought an air of freshness in the college and its admn. He was broad minded and was very understanding about the needs and aspirations of students, always supporting and encouraging. I interacted with him closely being the College President and he was ever willing to listen, accept new ideas. Despite his high qualifications, he was humble, humorous, approachable, kind and affable. We remember him warmly. May his soul rest in divine peace
Fr. Stany Vas was my first Jesuit contact, going back to 1954 when I joined St Aloysius College for my first year Intermediate. I was a hostelite housed in Hill Palace, a heritage building touching the Court complex, linked by a foot bridge to the road from the chapel to the Court. Fr Stany was the warden, in addition to his teaching portfolio. He was unobtrusive, friendly and benign. There were two classes of hostelers then - from rural area who were timid and others who were smart and show-offs.Fr. Stany took care of the former, like me, in a special way.I lost touch with him for forty years while working in Bombay. Once I was back in Mangalore in 2000, I ran into him at functions and funerals which he attended even though, lately, he could not stand up through the service. Whenever we crossed our path, he had ready recognition and a special smile for me as for others. In these days of expanding girths, I had a special admiration for Fr. Stany for maintaining his tall, slim figure.Hill Palace has made place for a modern building and is nostalgia for the likes of me. Now Fr. Stany has departed. But, he will live in the pleasant memory of the thousands whose life he touched for the better. All I can now repay my debt to him is by attending his funeral service this evening.
Fr Stany Vas is a great Jesuit with a gentle personality. He had blessed me on my first communion day in 1967. Ever since I had been in admiration to this simple, serene, cheerful and a kind Jesuit. During his stay in bangalore he did reach out to the mentally challenged by visiting them. Though his health was fragile during his last phase of life he always kept a cheerful countenance and encouraging smile. Great to have met him and wonderful to have known him. May Fr stan rest in the Lord.

A great Jesuit. A great person. I and my family (Prof MD Joseph) have fond memories of Fr. Stany Vas. I remember he came to watch the St Joseph's vs St. John's hockey tournament at Sullivan police grounds in the early 1980s. He went out of his way to come talk to me. I was touched. Fr. Stany Vas was an exemplary Jesuit priest. He was the Rector of SAC when I was a little child. Later on I had the privilege of residing with him at Mount St Joseph Bangalore as a young Jesuit Novice. A victim of asthma, he bore his suffering silently. He was a kind and gentle soul and always had wit and humor ready for all occasions. Every time while I visited him at Fatima Retreat House in Mangalore, Fr Stany used to proudly smile and say that he was the oldest walking Jesuit of the Karnataka Province. With the passing away of Fr Stany, we have lost a good man and a holy priest. Goodbye Fr Stany, until we meet again !
