Fr Joseph (Joe) Castelino (79), born on August 12, 1937 in Sooda-Koraje, Pernal, son of the late John Abraham Castelino (Teacher) and late Magdaline Castelino passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2015 in Varanasi.

Fr Joseph Castelino joined Minor Seminary at Lucknow for the Diocese of Varanasi in 1956. He was ordained priesthood December 21, 1965. Later he joined as the Diocesan Priest in April 1966. Secretary to Most Rev. Jerome Melefant from 1966 to 1971, he worked as a Parish Priest at Beera Bunty Mission Station from 1971 to 1977.  He did his higher studies at Manila in 1977.

Founder Director of "Nav-Sadhna" (1980) at Varanasi from 1982 to 1986, he was the Rector at Allahabad Major Seminary from 1986 to 1991 and Administrator and Associate Director at St John's Medical College and Hospital, Bangalore from 1993 to 2002.

Director St Mary's Hospital at Korotha Varanasi from 2002 to 2004, he was the Spiritual Director at "Massi Gurukul" at Varanasi from 2005 to 2011.

Fr Joseph celebrated his fifty years of preisthood on October 21, 2015. He was residing at “Vianny Nivas” at Bhojubir, Varanasi as a retired priest.

Funeral will be held on Monday, November 23, 2015 at 10:30 am at St Mary's Cathedral, Varanasi.
