Elias Pinto (75), retired surveyor, husband of Epresina, father of Anita, Dr Prakash (lecturer, St Aloysius) and Santosh, and elder brother of social activist and advocate Shirtady William Pinto, passed away on February 11 in a private hospital in Mangalore after a brief illness.
Funeral cortege leaves Shirtady residence St Lawrence Hill for Mount Carmel Church, shirtady at 4 pm on Sunday, February 12.

Elias Pinto was actively involved in organizing government employees' unions and had served as district president and state vice president of the union.
After retirement, he had continued fighting for social justice through NGOs. He had also involved himself in the welfare of SCs and STs of Shirtady.
