Do not be afraid -I will save You, I have called You, by name-You are mine.
When you pass through deep waters, I will be with you.
                                                                                                 - Isaiah Ch 43:1-4

That's how God kept His loving gaze on our Dad, Mr. Alex Nazareth! And that's how we would like to remember Dad.

The story of Dad is one of a life well lived. Dad was born in a simple family in Belman, Mangalore. Like any other child he went to school but being the eldest child, the mantle of taking care of the family, which comprised of six other siblings, fell on the raw young shoulders of Dad. Thus began Dad's journey to Mumbai.

Dad was a great entrepreneur, a man of vision and foresight and strength of character that displayed tremendous enduring spirit in all difficulties of life. He was respected in the automobile repairing industry in Mumbai for his ability, honesty and integrity. He was a man with a heart of gold, generous and forgiving- above all a man of deep faith in God! A man for others-that's how he lived his life to the end.

Dad worked very hard throughout his life-a caring son, a father figure to his brothers and sisters, a caring husband, a wonderful Dad to his children and an ever-loving Papa to the grandchildren. We thank God for the wonderful gift of Dad He gave us, who walked with us every step of our lives. How blessed we all are to have had him grace our lives for so long.

On 14th November 2009, when God called Dad home after a brief illness borne bravely and patiently, we were left bereft in a void that can never be replaced. His brief struggle had ended ... and our struggle to go on living without him had begun.

 We know Dad would like to say this to each one of us specially to our Mum and to us his children:

I am safely home in Heaven, dear ones;
Oh, so happy and so bright
There is perfect joy and beauty
In the everlasting light.

All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in heaven at last.

There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand:
Do it while life remaineth-
You shall rest in God's land.

Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him!
May his soul rest in peace Amen.
