Karkala: Dying Woman Pleads for Murderer Husband's Life

Daijiworld Media Network – Karkala (SP)

Karkala, Feb 22: There can be no better example of love and fidelity than this. A woman, even as she lay dying, had only one last wish - 'Don't harm my husband.'

This, despite the fact that she was allegedly killed by the husband who she was trying to protect.

The unfortunate incident occurred at Manjarapalke in Bola village in the taluk on Tuesday February 21. Shalini (35), was allegedly stabbed by her drunkard husband Sudhakar Poojary (36) and was admitted to a hospital in Mangalore, where she succumbed to her injuries in the afternoon.

Sudhakar Poojary, a resident of Kolajalu reportedly pestered Shalini for money on Tuesday morning, and stabbed her after she refused. He fled the scene immediately, but before running away, he threatened everyone at home of dire consequences.

The woman was brought to Mangalore with the knife in her abdomen, and the doctors at the hospital had to remove it. Shalini, who rolled bidis for running the family, is understood to have requested those around her not to harm her husband, even while fighting for her life at the hospital.

Shalini, daughter of the late Kuddu Poojary and Korapolu Poojary from Bola village, had married Sudhakar nine years back. She has left behind seven-year-old daughter, Sushma, and five-year-old Suraksha, besides her killer husband.

Sources said that Poojary, who worked for a provision store, is rude, and speaks rarely to people. He used to come home drunk in the evening, and threaten to kill the family members. It is said that he bought a new knife on Monday with the purpose of killing his wife, who was soft-spoken and good-natured.

The villagers are also fed up with Sudhakar, and they too are searching for him, it is learnt. A case was registered in rural police station here. Sub-inspector, Azmat Ali, has taken up investigation.

This is one of the finest example of true love that comes from within, and Shalini's love for her husband was pure, its very sad that she being killed by her husband and at that time if she's telling dont harm my husband is reminding me of Jesus telling when he was dying, "please forgive them, they dont know what they are doing". There are people in todays world who are very calm and relaxed, and there are people who are arrogant, what is the need of being arrogant and spoil others life? Does she deserve such harrasement? Does she deserve such death? Marriage life is the unity and the two becoming one, its living for the person and killing the person, no matter whatever happens, married life one should have maturity, understanding, and adjustment and more than that will power from within that i will live my married life for my partner, its all about thinking of your life partner. May her soul rest in peace

Great lady, loved her husband till the end. May her soul rest in peace.

I know a person who used to drink a lot. Did not bother to care about the family. Did not bother about the ailing wife who was a gem. At the last moment she asked her husband in the night "please lift me once, I am feeling uneasy". Husband didn't bother. She again said "At least you lift me once, tomorrow onwards I will not ask for your help". Husband obliged with lot of murmur. But she breathed her last in the arms of the husband. Within 4 months he got remarried. He started comparing the wives. Later he was saying that dead one was an angelic wife. One night he had excessive drinks and went to the semitary and was crying bitterly on the graveyard saying "I am sorry".

We don't realise the value of our spouse when he/she is alive!!

This incident reminds me St Maria Goretti. Stabbed by Alexander with a knife, she forgave Alexander before she died.
The most important aspect of her story is her forgiveness of her attacker-her concern for her enemy extending even beyond death.
I pray- May this woman's last act of love and fidelity transform her husbands life to a good human being.

Even now God must be thinking what kind of human beings he created on this earth. Husband killed wife but wife plead not to harm Husband!!!!! There is no need to punish Sudhakar, he will end up cursing himself for his gruesome act. But just imagine the future life of those 2 children without mother & father!!!!

Even though the wife has forgiven him, the law should take its own course of action. Children don't deserve this kind of father. They may have to face physical as well as mental torture with him. Instead of having this kind of father better not to have one.

Shalini may your soul rest in eternal peace and give comfort to your children and pray to God to show a way whereby the children will be taken care of. The murderer Sudhakar Poojari killed his wife for sake of money and deprived the children of the mother who was doing a meager job to take care of herself and the children. I hope the police will find him soon and arrest him and put in jail forever without bail.Even if she pleaded for her husband's life, the law will take its own course. After buying a new knife, he should have cut his own throat in stead of stabbing his wife. The poor lady would have lived happily with her kids and other family members.

It is such a shame that drunken men doesn't even understand the sitation around the family. What should we pray for? Forgiveness? So that it gives many to do heinious act and abscond from the situation. Kids need father yes but is it good enough for the kids to live with the man who killed their own mother? It will be a nightmare for both of them and gradually they are under the care of murderer.

I don't think any one should take law in their hand and get away. He did purchase the new knife and the motive behind to kill the family for money. He was in a good state of mind and we should not feel pity and excuse the father as he left the kids orphaned.

May be the wife excused him before dying but court should punish the killer just to know there is a consequence for the behaviour.

They pulled the body slowly..to their surprise, they saw 3 months old baby holding her body tightly and baby was alive.

She must be an exceptionally kind and noble lady, as otherwise, no one can plead for her murderer, even if he is her husband. I am sure God will reward her for such a forgiving act. As for you Sudhakar, Shalini has forgiven you, but will your children ever forgive you? Tender 7 years and 5 years old children - what will be their future? May God give strength and wisdom to these innocent children to bear the loss of their most loving mother.

This is great example for forgiveness. The point is that the husband must change his life and attitude for the rest of his life.He must do penance and ask forgiveness for his heinous inhuman crime, because the love shown by his life is very rare & excellent. If not he must be punished, to make him realise his wrong doing.

Cruel and undeseving husband got this good lady as wife. Now these two innocent children are left to face this bitter reality and hardship of life for no fault of theirs.
